Things to Consider Before Attempting to Correct the King James Bible

Martin Luther was a heretic as well. Should we avoid him too? I think being a heretic is WAY under-rated. lol (I'm not recommending Origen, just sayin'...) As in most cases, eat the meat and spit out the bones.

What a terrible thing to say about prophecy.

    Speaking in tongues

It seems that you misunderstand the definition of NT prophecy. Has our need for strengthening, encouraging and comfort come to an end? 1 Corinthians 14:3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

    Speaking in tongues

You're barking up the wrong tree. I'm not claiming "sign" gifts. That's a false accusation of Cessationists. Are you one? (sorry if I already asked) The scripture you quoted contains this: "... the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but...

    Speaking in tongues

This is something we are left to contend with. The half of the church on the tongues-speaking side are accused of dishonesty in proving their position biblically and those on the non-tongues side don't see enough biblical evidence to support it. And those who don't speak in tongues also don't...

Does church mean a lot to you?

Have a great worship time. I pray that Spirit moves mightily in your midst. I am off this week. I usually am part of the worship team. I would be almost there by now. So. I'm having a relaxed morning. I like your signature scripture. "I will sing to the Lord for He has been good to me."...

    Speaking in tongues

Unfortunately, the Bible speaks very little to the subject of the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. So, from that perspective, your observation that it is an oral tradition is an interesting way to look at it. But that puts it in a category that is rejected by the majority of Protestants who...

Does church mean a lot to you?

Jesus said he would build his church. Do you believe he has failed? Either way, where is the evidence?

    Speaking in tongues

Right. "The Holy Spirit praying is not limited to speaking in tongues." It could just as well be in wordless groans, or in your native tongue. And I think utterance should include any sound that comes from the mouth that is not categorized as something else. Like singing or screaming. But I...

    Speaking in tongues

In all fairness we need to consider the pioneering aspect of what was happening. And I mean whether you agree with it or not. If the Corinthian church had not been swinging from the chandeliers in their worship services to the extent that the Apostle needed to bring some order to the chaos, we...

Things to Consider Before Attempting to Correct the King James Bible

I think that's the KJV. The NIV says "unique horn". Tell me which is more accurate. lol

Is debating equally acceptable amongst genders?

Doesn't seem fair. We drive women everywhere and then complain that they are inexperienced drivers.

Does church mean a lot to you?

I see a lot of talk here about church as a place to go and receive. Then you decide whether you like it or not. That is not what church is supposed to be. We are the church. We gather to be with one another. We find our place in the body of Christ. We become a part. The church is incomplete...

Is debating equally acceptable amongst genders?

Yes. Or at least they process things differently than men. This is not a bad thing, but it is different. Example. Men tend to categorize things. And prefer to talk about one thing at a time. Women see everything as connected and want to discuss everything at once. This drives men crazy.

Is debating equally acceptable amongst genders?

Right. I wanted to ask how many genders we were referring to here. Haven't noticed any trannies though. (there's a topic?)

Why Do Christians Ignore some of Jesus' Teachings?

Twice in that scripture the Apostle says, "... let them be under God’s curse!" (double emphasis) These are some very sobering words. Or they should be.

Why Do Christians Ignore some of Jesus' Teachings?

My turn. @prove-all 1) By whom were the Galatians being bewitched? (Gal.3:1) 2) What point is the Apostle making in this passage about Hagar and Sarah? The passage begins and ends with these two verses. Galatians 4:21, 31 21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of...

Why Do Christians Ignore some of Jesus' Teachings?

There we go. That's a manageable size post. Is sin transgression of the law ? The writer says sin is ALSO a transgression of the law. (what else?) The passage is about sin, not about the law. Sin was in the world before the law was given. (Rom.5:13) Is the law holy, and the commandments...
