    Not By Works

Don't get me wrong, we are not saved by works, but after we are saved there are works for us to do. And we can not reject the fact that Jesus will be separating people for the works the did and did not do, one day. Jesus does require us to do works.

    Not By Works

No one can be saved by works. I have never known a Christian say that they must be saved by works and not grace. But, once saved, there is work to be done.

    Should we be celebrating Easter?

I have done my shared of studying this subject as well. I first found that "easter" in Acts 12:4 is the Greek word πάσχα, Latin Vulgate used pascha, which is translated as Passover everywhere but in this one KJV verse. How odd for them to do that. If there was a new celebration, with a...

Should we follow Jewish or Gentile early Christian Fathers

Guess I don't get out much. I never heard of a movement called "hebrew roots". Interesting. Will go look that up.

Should we follow Jewish or Gentile early Christian Fathers

I am not sure who "led" the church. But Polycarp was the Bishop of Smryna, wasn't he a Gentile? Does anyone know?

Should we follow Jewish or Gentile early Christian Fathers

I am so glad our preachers and Sunday school teachers don't roll their eyes at us. It is sort of belittling if not rude. But anyhow. Who lead the church up to Act 11:26?

Should we follow Jewish or Gentile early Christian Fathers

I find this very interesting and would love to know the truth. I have heard similar things regarding this. That the gentiles distanced themselves from their Jewish roots for fear of the Romans. The Bible does teach us that the tree that bare the branches, some were broken off because they...

    Reading for discipleship/deep dive?

I also believe that knowing some history (like the ancient Jews ways of life, etc) can help understand some things. I remember a long time ago reading where it says "let no one on the housetop come down..." and I wondered, why are people on their roofs. Then I learned their roofs were flat...

    Not By Works

Ok, gotcha. This thread is about thinking that "doing works only" will save a person. I didn't know any Christians thought that way, or I guess I don't know any who do. I thought only Jewish people who did not believe in Christ thought that.

    Not By Works

Where in the world did you come up with that "so people can have faith, but not have faith" lol, I know that I have a hard time expressing what I am trying to say sometimes, but if I am that bad about it then I need to not be part of the conversations. You need to be more specific of what I...

    Not By Works

Are you teaching people that once they are saved by the Grace of God, through the faith in Jesus Christ, that they do not have to do any works, not even feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit those in prison or the widows, etc? Because they could boast about those too? So you do no works of...

    Not By Works

So if once a person is saved by grace, through faith in Jesus, they do nothing but what they want to do? So we can sit around play video games, go to concerts, make a comfortable lifestyle for ourselves. No worries, No works for God at all? If so, how do you explain James 1:27 " Pure and...

Does entering into Jesus' rest mean we're to give up the Sabbath day? Is the 4th commandment part of the moral law of God?

There are many different scriptures to look at for the study of whether to keep or not to keep the Sabbath. And when someone brings up a scripture to try to add to this all to see how it fits in, you jump on the accusing wagon. I will be honest, I don't know. I don't know if you should...

Does entering into Jesus' rest mean we're to give up the Sabbath day? Is the 4th commandment part of the moral law of God?

I was responding to Locutus who was using Old Testament scriptures and * just added some of the ones he/she missed. But NT scripture is great for this study as well. We must examine all scriptures regarding the subject.

Does entering into Jesus' rest mean we're to give up the Sabbath day? Is the 4th commandment part of the moral law of God?

Just want to add in a few things you missed: Also in Gen 2:3 we find that God 1.) Blessed, 2.) pronounced Holy, 3.) rested (שׁבת) on the seventh day. The seventh day has been a Holy Day from creation. Then in Exo 16:23 we see it is called "the rest(שׁבתון) of the Holy Sabbath(שׁבת) unto the...

    Was King David a rapist?

Thanks for responding. I think I need to reread that story again.
