Ephesians 1:13,14 do not say that (at least in the versions I have) - and even if they did say that - you are using your own definition of "sealed" in your explanations - Nowhere does this text clearly say that the Holy Spirit will not leave the spirit of a believer.

When God asks questions in His Word, then I listen and I endeavor to understand. When man creates a theology, then asks rhetorical questions to prove his theology, then I do not listen. Instead I ask for the Scriptures that state this theology.

I like what you say about Acts 5:32: It says the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey Jesus. That is what the verse says so that is what we know.

What I mean is that if you have two seemingly opposite positions, we often consider that one is right and the other is wrong. I am just suggesting that it might be that both Calvinism and Arminianism are wrong.

Thanks for the answers so far here . . . Different people find assurance in perhaps slightly different ways, but in all cases it is God (through the Holy Spirit) who does the work and who is the "author and finisher of our faith." For myself, God's grace has done such a deep work in my heart...

REST is one of the dearest and most precious benefits of being a believer who abides in Jesus.

The key is not so much to get "closer" to God. The key is to realize we need him desperately or we will die (eternally). Once that is known, then we will hang on to Jesus for dear life!
