First Steps Questions For New Believers - Please Help :)

Hi, all, :) I am tasked with the wonderful project of creating a First Steps program for our Pentecostal church. This program will be online and given in person to new believers. :) I am ever in need of questions that new believers face...and even some that you may still have, if you're not...

Who Remembers? A look at regret, calling, and purpose

I was blessed and honored to be asked to bring the message at my church on August 28th. Here's the video of the message, though the camera was in the back of the room...but it still works well. :) Such an amazing experience. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-8gANbyG6Q&feature=youtu.be

I'm not waiting for you and I'm not praying for you

I see a great deal of posts on Facebook and such that say that they are "waiting" for the one God would send them, that they are not settling because they know that God has someone for them, that they choose to abstain from sex for their future spouse. I daresay that these are the wrong reasons...

    Please pray for me

I don't have anyone to talk to and my soul hurts. Prayer is needed for the love and comfort of Christ to cover me. I do all right most days without anyone to talk to, but sometimes I am just so overwhelmed that I can't handle it. Thank you.

Identify the Plural of These Words Quiz

My mom shared this on Facebook. I took it and got an A+ (I am a writer...so...) and I thought I'd share it here for the fun of it. :) The link is at the end of this post. :) Here's my result: Exceptional Pluralist Most people struggled with this quiz – but not you! We’re not sure if you’re a...

Should Christians leave tips for waiters and waitresses?

Yeah...the title says it all. :) Should we tip waitstaff? What amount should we tip them?

    Yuppers

When I read some of the responses from some of the men on here in regards to women, all I see is, "Blah blah blah blah blah, I can control, abuse, mistreat and crush women under my male chauvinistic feet because my interpretation of the Bible tells me so, blah blah blah."

...sincerity will not protect us (or others) from peril if we are sincerely wrong

This is a great article, but the one point I really want to share and emphasize is the following: People are going to actually believe what we teach them. What we teach will shape the way they live. Most will assume we have done the hard work of understanding the text. If we get it wrong, the...

    Armor of God Bible Study

Hi, all! I have started an online Bible Study on the Armor of God from Ephesians. This study is taking place on Facebook on my Bible Study Page, but as many don't use Facebook and we are not encouraged to send you to other sites for our own reasons, I have finally uploaded the videos to You...

They Cannot Take It Away From Me!

I think that today I have had the first revelation regarding this trial as to what I am supposed to learn while going through this long, dark valley. When the mantle of favor was lifted from my workplace, oh so long ago, I couldn't understand why. I thought it was because God wanted me to learn...

It is so foolish to waste this time

Today, as I sat at my desk at work, I thought, "It is so foolish that I am wasting my time." You see, I have begun to settle for lukewarm living. And, though I desire Christ so fully and completely to overtake me and overwhelm me and for me to be caught up in the wonder of Him, to worship Him...

    Actually...

...it is the pressing and crushing and defining and limiting and condemning and controlling women that is ungodly, not God using women to teach, preach, lead and prophesy, as His word shows us this occurs by His decree many times. It is the falsehood that women are to be silent, barefoot...

Why we no longer call ourselves 'disciples of Christ'

Do you ever wonder why we are called 'Christians' and 'servants' and 'followers' and no longer 'disciples'? This became clear to me one day a year or so ago and I just thought about it today. The term 'disciple' means follower of person or idea: somebody who believes in and follows the...

Caesar, Coercion and the Christian Conscience: A Dangerous Confusion

I don't know if this has been shared yet, but I just learned about this legislation today, and though it hasn't reached my state yet, it seems legit and valuable and good...but I haven't really looked deeply into it. What are your thoughts? Caesar, Coercion, and the Christian Conscience: A...

    Go Back!

Sometimes, when you see that someone liked your post in a thread that, when you posted the one they liked, the thread was happy and innocent and only a few posts long and you know the madness that has befallen the thread that is now 500 posts long, and you want to shout, "Go back! You should not...

Do you love yourself? Do you even like yourself?

So, we are called as followers of Christ and true believers in the Bible as the infallible word of God, holy and alive and sharper than any two-edged sword, to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves. So that brings to mind the...

    Overcoming Self-Pity

Sometimes, on those dark days, when life just slaps you and slaps you and you think, "What is going on?!?!", those are the days when self-pity opens up wide and says, "Come on in, sweetie, and tell me all about it." I had a moment like that yesterday. When I look at my life as it is right now...

    What Happened This Morning

I locked myself and my three dogs out of the house before work. I did have my car key, thankfully, so, because my dogs are little escape artists, I had to load them up in the car and drive to the bus lot to meet my mom so I could use her phone to call work and her key to get into the house...

    Facing Disappointments

In this process of adopting, facing disappoints is difficult. It seems like most of the time, you’re in limbo, waiting, waiting, waiting, and then denied or told that they want to wait, even though you’re a possible match. Waiting, waiting, waiting. It is hard to imagine how the children feel...
