I tried to edit the previous but time ran out. So, here are the last two paragraphs with those changes: Also, gender-sensitive language changes were made - which IMO is very important. If you’re an old guy, like me, those gender insensitive language choices don’t bother me personally, but we...

Oyster, Wasn’t aware of the revision. So I researched it. Here are I think two key changes: For example in the book of Ephesians the word “aliens” has been changed to “foreigners,” “lose heart” changed to “become discouraged,” “implore” changed to “urge,” “tender-hearted” changed to...

I have one of the beta versions. You can buy a hard copy still - go to www.bible.org - there’s a link there somewhere. I think they only sell them online. I love so many translations. I used to be really particular, but now I‘ve grown to appreciate many of the strengths of most of them...

IMO you can’t go too far wrong with any of those... the NLT is a bit paraphrastic, but sometimes such a translation helps us to realize something that might have slipped by us otherwise. Good reading. FA

For those who prefer the KJV, may I suggest you consider the NKJV instead? The language has been modernized to a degree. I imagine that you misunderstand some of what was intended by the authors when reading the KJV. I encourage you to research it. You will find that the Greek mss are recent...

    Sins cannot be charged!

Hi. New here. IMO we are saved by grce alone through faith alone, meaning that when Christ died for our sin, He died for all of it... not just those in the past. Also, repent means literally to “change your mind/heart.” It looks internally. Repentance is something that all believers need to...

    Faith alone in Christ alone

Personally, what concerns me is when well-meaning people assume that the only feasible, Bible-respecting position is that of an earth/universe just a few thousand years old. This is often referred to as the young-earth position. I do not wish to step on any toes here. FA

By Copenhagen interpretation I assume that you’re referring to the 1935 paper by Schrodinger and Einstein from which the Schrodinger’s Cat illustration of what he and Einstein had issues with quantum mechanics about. I don’t see where you’re going with this though. :-) FA

    Science and the bible

Gary, Thx for your thoughts. Just a suggestion, we should not assume that anyone (perhaps a committed believer) who holds to an older earth/universe than just say 6000 - 10,000 years or so Is disrespecting the Bible. Perhaps they see the interpretation of it a bit differently in places than...

    Science and the bible

Blik, Agreed. I believe one issue, which you referred to above, is when well-meaning Christians misunderstand what God was intending to do in a scripture text. For example, IMO God was not intending to give specific details about just how He created the world in Genesis 1 & 2. I believe that...
