Hello all,

I noticed the only options for designating faith in your profile is Christian, Not Christian and unsure.

As with many persons here I'm sure the fact being Catholic and not sharing all the evangelical beliefs of others can be frustrating at times . I love to hear opinions and beliefs of all but but not all are mine or my churches.

Being Catholic certainly makes me Christian but differs from the non scientific notion of man kinds evolution that differs greatly for most Christians here at christianchat.com.

This makes a fundamental difference for me in the larger circle of Christians and should perhaps be made a point of difference here on the site.

Just my thoughts,

Matt

The site owners official policy on Catholics is that they are not Christians. So i imagine they'll avoid that, otherwise they would have to provide options for other religious beliefs as well.

I did not see anything here that said that about the forum owners policy, did I miss something?

I am a United Methodist. I don’t seek out other United Methodists. I seek out humble people. I like humble Catholics just like I like humble United Methodists. I don’t care much for “holier than thou” Catholics OR “holier than thou” United Methdists.

There are 24,000 denominations (one a month since Jesus rose) and each one disagrees with each other one about something. Which also means we each have something different to share. Why can't we all just be followers of Jesus Christ to the best of our ability, and just let each other work out his salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12 and surrounding context)?

This was 2008, and in response to abuses.

That thread is from May 2012, not 2008. And its Robo's official stance on Catholicism, not a response to abuses.

Most dissapointing, actually offensive to read from the admin on this site. I wonder how many other Catholic's have seen this?

Matt
Well, the thread is 40 pages long, almost all debating the issue, so plenty of them have seen it. He made no attempt to hide the thread.
I thought it was neither disappointing nor offensive, as i was actually in agreement with the post.

Thank you. I'm always looking at join date, and thinking it's post date. 790 posts in 48 days. I just skimmed some of them, but it looks like pretty much everything that can be said pro or con Catholics is in there.

I think official policy is reflected more by the fact that this 20 pages is there for everyone to read. When the Lord and I first talked about me joining a chat site, I looked through quite a few. This is the only one I feel comfortable with, and those 20 pages is a good part of why. I have never known a church that didn't hate some other church. This is the first time I have seen no attempt at all to censor the discussion of opinion on who is right and wrong.

I agree with the article. I never heard any of these arguments before. I once owned a World Religion Encyclopedia. I got my count from there, and never attempted to categorize what they disagree on. From personal experience, I know of over a dozen denominations that could be properly called "Catholic". When I say they all disagree with each other, I mean that from experience. Right here in town, an Assembly of God church split a few years ago over whether it was proper to pay for an organ that was destroyed by lightning with insurance money, as it was not "trusting God". We have occasional letters to the editor that churches should not seek tax exemption. I still remember the hate calls when we advertised Christian Feast of Tabernacles in Dover. And my discussions with the big Pentecostal church there that does not believe in the trinity.

Many years ago, my wife had been arguing some point of theology with someone, and got really upset. She went to God with it and screamed "but he's wrong". God came right back at her with "I don't care who's right, I care who's loving." Many of these churches think it is their ministry to "lovingly correct" each other. The problem with this is, that they are all screaming their "loving corrections" so loudly, no one is listening, and to the world, this does not look like love.

Just an opinion and view here, but if this request were granted, there might as well be the same thing done for every single denomination and religion out there. The Baptist, the Church of God, the Nondenominational, the Church of Christ, the Jehovah's Witnesses, etc, and etc. Really just a pointless thing over all, I mean hey, the body of Christ is simply the body of Christ, IF the blood of Jesus has been applied :) why label yourself here in this walk of life, when we won't be labeled in heaven? You're simply a child of God, or you're not. I don't mean to sound rude, it's just that this idea, well if the requested were granted, would probably cause some issues. It really shouldn't matter if you're Catholic, or whatever you may be. Why single out someone's religion and such, when the point of the site, and those here, is to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to spread the gospel? To love, to encourage, to lift up in prayer, and so on. I have some friends whom are Catholic, doesn't mean we can't all be friends, even if we do have different views, and beliefs. Sometimes, such friendships can be a tool God uses to lead one to salvation. Just some thoughts though. God bless :)

If you think you're a christian, even as a catholic, just opt for 'christian,' and don't make such a big thing out of it.
