Bible Bot ?

Hi ppl,

I have come from the irc way of doing things and one of the things I miss is the bible bot where you can draw down scriptures into channel. Currently I have to paste verses from e-sword into channel and that doesn't work very well because there seems to be a fairly short maximum line length.

Are there any plans to increase the maximum line length and or add a bible bot?

I would like to suggest more control on the Bible bot -
It displays lots of random verses.

To make conversations easier to follow, a little control would be nice.

But then again, we need the funds.

I hope I can help with your question.

The bot does not post random verses of itself. The bot only posts verses which it is commanded to post. If a person in the channel performs the command to bring up certain verses, the bot will comply. The only times it will not comply is when the command is not performed correctly, or the verse being commanded, has already been posted previously ( within a min) of it already being posted. The bot has flood protections so that a person wont command the same verse over and over and over.

by example, consider the bot like a vending machine. It wont produce until you or some other person puts in the correct input to get it to work.

Sometimes, there is a person behind the bot. This is because it is carried on the personal pc's of a couple people who have offered it to CC. However, we also ( Splat and myself), connect under our own names on different accounts and usually do not respond through the bot account. When I am hosting the bot on my system, I do not even look in through the bot account. I am usually chatting through my own account and the bot account is muted so as not to interfer with the sounds of the other account.

if you pm the bot, it probably will not respond, if I am the one hosting it at that time.

I am a programmer by trade. I might be able to assist in getting the bible bot stuff incorporated into the the chat room. If intersted PM either in chat or via the boards and we can discuss if this is possible.

I offer no promises though, its probably in java wich is not one of my strongest points.
