This is in response to a politics thread in BDF.
I'm not the judge of what's discussing the bible or not but collectively perhaps we can agree that some topics aren't really discussing the bible directly enough to be in this forum. I do understand that it is the most trafficked forum and people are inclined to post there for the widest audience but are there no guidelines on what "stays" approved?
Let us assume that two believers are talking about the weather. Scripture is foundational to both of their lives and so they both recognize that the Lord created the heavens and the earth and this is the "actual" basis for their weather discussion but to any onlooker, their discussion looks the same as people that have no belief in a creator.
Would the above appropriately fit in BDF? I don't personally think so. More of a misc topic. I don't think politics is off limits when it is clearly structured in such a way that scripture isn't just "a given, now let's move on" sort of thing. Like comparing political systems of the bible with political systems of today or some sort of question but when we devolve into republican this/democrat that...It seems to not belong there.
I suppose what I'm asking is are there guidelines for this, because it seems more properly suited elsewhere and I've seen on some sites where you would click on the thread it would be locked and a last post would say moved (insert link) or perhaps and added first post (continue the discussion here).
The other political threads I've seen are in conspiracy/corruption or the news forum and perhaps the family forum at one point.
