Again...God raises up leaders...Sampson, Saul, and David were just such leaders raised to take care of enemies.
Apparently, according to you...if we don't "do something" God is either unwilling or unable to do something that needs to be done.
So you are still in favor of trying to advise God in what He needs to do. Or you are wanting to be a Saul...a "hand of judgement" that is like the tribe of Dan...getting left out of Heaven. (tribe not mentioned in Revelations)
And God was very clear with David, Saul, and Sampson with what they were supposed to do...It wasn't "subject to interpretation" or some other nonsense.

I am not in harmony with promoting perversion to children...of course not.
But I also don't see a need with "book burning and banning" because of some sort of shrill shreeker screaming at the top of their lungs at a school board meeting either over materials that are subject to "request for access" by a parent in order for the materials to be available to their children either. (which is literally what is happening here...and that is just the lighter points of the meetings...details are much much worse)

I don't care what the whole world does...its not my job to care. I care about those in my small community.
Government is outside of my world and purvue...again because it involves politicians and politics.

Politics is the means by which they Killed Jesus...granted He died for me...but I would be an absolute hypocrite for promoting politics or a political view to anyone if I were to do so.
and I am striving to not be one of those. YMMV

I will get a chance to read this a bit later. But I would I like to invite you to the Happy In the Lord thread in the BDF. We want to try and prove that praise can win out aruguing in the forums. So we may disagree here, I think we could agree over there. Share whatever makes you happy, a verse a song, whatever it may be. Blessings.

On topic though, yes, I think the news forum could use some work with a further subforum for anything political. Certainly a need for news and I've wanted to post strictly informational stuff that gets pushed WAY down the list (like 3G network shutdown/POTS shutdown) but I haven't because I feel like the family forum is more suited but technically it's the wrong category.

new people will go to the news forum for news and not know to go to the family forum so alas.

I'd post the threads in both categories with slight variations but that's almost a taboo in my book so I haven't yet (still may though).

When Christians stop assuming leadership roles in society, they have ceded the society. Godly men and women have always been at the forefront in every nation and in every area of endeavor wherever nations have been blessed. And this will remain the case so long as it is righteousness that exalts nations.
It is irresponsible in my opinion to long for God's healing while doing nothing to assuage the inevitable downward spiral that always attends the influence of the ungodly.
Make a difference where you are. Bloom where God has planted you.

I have a friend who is on a school board. I tend to think she is nuts for even getting elected to the position. (It wasn't much of a campaign....she was the only one who signed up) The controversial books that have the LGBT themes are only in the libraries of the final three grades of Publix education and only viewable by those whose parents have opted in to allow them access. But it's also not just LGBT themes in that section there are books that contain more mature themes that have nothing to do with sex. There's death, torture, imprisonment and other themes in that section as well.

However,
The charges are that all of these books are grooming children. And where I'd agree with that assessment for a few of those books...hardly all of them or even a majority. And there is the thing where they have to have a permission voucher to even gain access.

But this is what takes up the school board's meetings. Screaming and shouting and false accusations. It's not discussion...it's shouting down sessions.

I really don't care...I want no part of it all.
Those school board meetings sound like what can happen in Bible discussion forums, or news and politics.
Opinions are passionate. And we have a right and a duty to be concerned about any matter government , operating in our name, purports to insist is in our best interest.

A nation of sheep begets a government of wolves.

ugh school boards, Hate them

church boards are also suspect...

People who've got nothing better to do could have their own whinge and moan forum called the complaints forum.

I noticed that even when you write to politicans they dont really care to listen or read and say to their contituents you sort out your own problems. Typical passing the buck. Even when they are in a postion of power to actually do something about the problem.

Id personally just ban the wolves and let the sheep be looked after by the true shepherd instead of those hired hands wolves in sheeps clothing they call the govt.

This involves a radical change in the way meetings are held where everyone listens to what God says when the spirit speaks and gives utterance not what one person with an agenda says.

It seems like this country is taking God out of everything. You see Christianity under attack constantly. I could fix this country in two minutes. All you have to do is elect a bunch of God fearing men & women, instead of a bunch of radicals. I'll leave it at that.

You could elect a bunch of God fearing men and women and things might be ok for a bit. But sooner or later, they will form political parties along denominational lines, and we will have the same problems all over again.

It might not be perfect, because none of us are, but they wouldn't act like these liars. It would be a huge up grade! I realize the bar is set very low, so they would have to be much better.

There are 3 sides people take these days in this world,1. Conservatives, 2. liberal and 3 The fence. meaning depending on the subject matter they could fall either way. Personally, I do not have a problem hearing one side or the other, but I wish they would also explain why they believe as they do about a certain subject, and not just look to argue without giving some Bible passages to prove their point. Brother Socreta93 I understand fully your frustration!

Please keep the title of the News Forum as is. I recently started a thread about Christians in the News - posting about news reports of Christians who stand strong in the face of persecution and opposition. Also including news about Christians who are making an effort to make a positive difference through God's direction and will in their own little part of the world. It's meant to encourage other Christians to do likewise as well!

Have you read anything in the Bible Discussion Forum? The Calvinists against the Non Calvinists, the Law Keepers against the Jesus is my Sabbath, the Cessationists against the non Cessationists and on and on and on.

I am not at all sure that 'Christians' in government would necessarily be a good thing. :cautious: Those that are there, seem to think this country should be a Theocracy.

As to the op, I have seen many different threads in the News Forum. People do not have to post in a political one and there is also the Miscellaneous forum. All kinds of stuff there I believe.

There's too much political activity in the news. For about three or five years the Seattle Times had nothing on the paper but political direct-action reports. It's slacked off, but in its place, I'm seeing a lot of front-page sports.
