Hello All,
I just downloaded today on my Ipod Touch the Rosary prayed by Rosary Army. It's really nice. So I thought..Would anyone be interested in listening to it if I played in in the prayer room? I know not everyone is Catholic on here so I was hoping that people wouldn't get mad. What do you think?

God Bless :)

It's a man and wife who say the rosary. I do not think it is online. I just downloaded it from Itunes.

+1.

I don't think songs should be in prayer room, think about the lounge instead...
off-topic: I hope the "Queen of Heaven" doesn't take over Prayer room.

God doesn't want us to mindlessly repeat the same prayer over and over again, He wants us to pray to Him from our hearts genuinely. Whats that Bible verse that says "they think they will be heard for their many prayers". So people shouldn't say the rosary.

Yes imachristian637789, it goes along with what jimmydiggs said about Matthew 6:5-15

5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.[b] 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.[c]

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Not necessarily the requirement of saying the Lord's prayer, that was given as a model of how you pray :)
Mainly the warning against vain repetitions in prayer as the heathens or pagans do.

I'm all up for the Rosary. :)
For those that think its merely repeating something, you guys need to read more about how the rosary is a meditative prayer where you meditate on the mysteries that involve the life of Jesus.

I'm up for it. Or we could use the liturgy of the Hours too.

It seems mindless to outsiders but we are actually thinking of Jesus and contemplating various events of his life as we pray (his resurrection, birth, crucifixion, etc...). This contemplation on Jesus's life is required when saying the rosary.

So getting back to the original subject. Does anyone want to maybe arrange a time to meet up and pray either the litany of hours or the rosary? I'm on Eastern Standard time in the USA. If we arranged a time I could do my best to join in.

Part of the Rosary is the "Hail Mary".

The Hail Mary goes like this...

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

This seems like a petition to Mary to me. We're to pray to the Father, through the Son. Not to Mary.

I'm looking over the details of the Rosary.

I can see "some" beneficial aspects, if it's done out of sincere desire to commune and reflect with and on God. I'd just take out the parts that pray to Mary or anyone else who isn't the Father, through Jesus.

Here are the parts I'd feel comfy doing.

1. Reciting the Apostles creed ie the core essentials of the faith. With the understanding that catholic means universal church and not the Roman Catholic church.

2. Saying the Lord's prayer..ie our Father who art in heaven..

3. Some general statements declaring the glory of God, petitioning him for needs of others and yours.

I'd take out the Hail Mary and Hail Holy Queen parts. Those seem to pray to Mary. To me that just ain't right.

Maybe instead of doing a Hail Mary and praying to her, something could be worded which reflects and states the positive qualities of Mary, and petitions the Father to make others, and yourself have those positive qualities? Or maybe her positive qualities could be recited and you could reflect and think upon how you can incorporate those in to your life and sphere of influence.

It wouldn't really work anyway because you can only have one person on the mic at a time.
