This is an older testimony that I wrote out a while ago and wanted to share it to encourage anyone that wants to read.

---
I was driving on the highway heading to a park. After taking the exit there was a light so I was waiting for it to turn green. I looked to my left and there was a small man sitting on the metal guardrail. I automatically knew he was homeless because usually homeless people sit in those areas so that people have no choice but to see them. It’s a good area to get money because sitting there and seeing a homeless person pricks your conscience. I also then saw his cardboard sign. He was not standing up holding his sign or walking back and forth with it, but was sitting on the rail looking down doing something. I couldn’t even read his sign because it was in his lap covered by his arm. I perceived that something was different about this homeless man and he had dignity. I perceived he was a very humble man. I perceived that he knew God would take care of him and didn’t need to be in control.

After a couple seconds of sitting there, I remembered that I had some money in my pocket. I then got his attention and pulled the money out of my pocket. While I was sifting through the money, and he was looking at me doing this, I decided to give all of it to him after I heard him say, ‘O thank You Jesus, O thank You Lord’. I was so blessed to hear such a man give thanks to the Lord, being in the predicament that he was in. I truly heard his heart of gratitude, excitement and expectancy at whatever amount this stranger was going to give to him. He was literally like a little kid, full of wonder waiting there in the middle of the road at a stranger’s car, with onlookers all around. He had no sense of care of what people thought. He was just so expectant at the blessing that was coming.

I never have that much money on me. I had bought a tent for a camping trip and then saw a better tent for a cheaper price somewhere else. So since I bought the tent with my debit card, the cashier returned the money back to me in cash instead of on my debit card. Before I left the store I thought to myself that maybe I should keep this money on me instead of immediately depositing it back into my account because I might need it for something. I now know why this happened. God wanted to bless that man through me.

So I gave him all of the money. His face lit up, almost with disbelief! He was so surprised that I decided to give him all of it. He said, “Really??” and then did a quick leap in the air for joy! He reminded me of a little kid finally receiving something that he had been asking for a long time. There was so much joy and pure wonder and pure faith inside of him. He then began to praise God and slightly bow his head to me and adamantly expressed his thanks to me. I bowed my head back to him and said, “Yes… praise Jesus”. He kept rejoicing and thanked me as he walked back to the rail. The light turned green and I drove away.

Matthew 5:3
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The Spirit brought this verse to me a couple of days back. The Spirit has been urging me to pray (Luke 18:1-8). I have been put in a predicament where I have no other choice but to pray and talk to my Daddy. I looked up the deeper meaning of Matt. 5:3 and it also can be said as, “[Well off/Rich] are the [beggars] in spirit: [for they have all that comes from above]”. I have been thinking on this and it’s meaning all week. The Spirit blessed me to meet such a man, such a beggar, so I could see what a mature person of faith and prayer looks like in the spirit. I understand that as I was blessing Him, the Spirit of God was also blessing me. It truly is better to give than to receive (Acts 20:35) because as I gave, it was given back to me (Luke 6:38).
