Hi My name is Paul and I come from Warsaw (Poland) I wanted to share with you a testimony about a pilgrimage

My pilgrimage
MT 10, 5-10
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,b drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.

In southern Poland there is a town called Czestochowa There is a monastery called Jasna Góra (Luminous Mount). In it there is a shrine to the Virgin Mary housing the image of Black Madonna of Częstochowa to which miraculous powers are attributed.

Jasna Góra is a place of many pilgrimages and for many the spiritual capital of Poland
I went on my first pilgrimage in 2007 but more out of curiosity In 2009 I went again this time in more spiritual intentions so I will tell you about this one

From Warsaw the pilgrimage starts on 5th of August and we finish on 14th often staying a day longer for 15th We journey for 10 days walking about 30 km a day. We have to get up early at 5 or 6 AM and we finish in the evening about 8 PM .And so a pilgrimage is a difficult but a wonderful act of faith.

On our way we pass through various sanctuaries dedicated to Virgin Mary

The daily plan is like this we get up early and walk On our first stop we have breakfast. Sometimes we have breakfast on the second stop after a Mass After one or two more stops we have dinner prepared by good people living where we stooped And so we move again to finish our day in another town where we sleep. During the day there is time for prayer , conferences and of course lots of singing. Who needs can go to the back of our column for a confession

There are 18 groups in various colors My group is white-red In it there is always lots of people from my community. We help one another and always have breakfast and supper together. We are like a family so the boys are called "brothers" and the girls "sisters". There is no "Hey you!"

Despite we are tired and our feet hurt we move forward with great joy. We meet good people on our way. They often prepare something to eat for us.

And so despite all this problems and the weather we finally make to the monastery

In my opinion a pilgrimage is a great manifestation of faith and also a good way to thank God for something.

In 6 days I will embark on my 4th pilgrimage Again with lots of friends praying I will have the strength to finish the journey

Here are some links if you want to see how it looks Words cant describe this
