God has recently laid a desire on my heart to protect and defend the rights of the weakest and "least" of members of our society, the elderly and the unborn. Protecting the latter is now the beginning of a journey for me.
Recentlly, while reading in Acts, I wondered what it would be like to be so filled with the Holy Spirit that I could not help but talk about the gospel, like Peter and John. I prayed for this, and this was the beginning of my journey.
While looking at the current administration's agenda at whitehouse.gov, I was startled to realize how ungodly many of the issues concerning children, education, gay rights, and abortion rights were. I am specifically referring to sex education in our schools, starting at the earliest ages, gay marriage, tolerance and acceptance of the gay agenda, and eliminating any restrictions on abortion. I realized that, as these issues are taught in school, our children are actively being led away from Christ!
The word "wicked" came to my mind. I looked up the definition, and one stood out: "causing or intending to cause harm." I then was led to this verse: Mark 9:42
[ Causing to Sin ] "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck." I realized how God feels about what we are teaching our children!
My journey seems to be to tell people what is happening to their children in school, to encourage teachers to refuse to teach that which goes against the will of God, and to tell our elected officials that what they are promoting is wicked. I don't know where I will end up, but if I can save even one baby from the evil of abortion, any woman from the agony of living with the knowledge of killing her child, even one teenager from dishonoring her body, etc, it will be most gratifying.
