This was the strangest thing that I suppose ever happened to me. I call it the "smoking gun".
It happened in 2007 in August. It concerns a relative of ours, will call her Susan here, that lived
some ways off from us and we had only met her once or twice in our lives, but she was closer to
our younger daughter and her family. I began to see that this all was not about me, but about Susan.
It was a Sunday night and my wife got a call from our daughter telling us that Susan was in the hospital and
asking for prayer for her healing. What for? is what I asked my wife, but she told me that it was personal and
we were not told, but were only asked to pray. So I did and my wife did, I am sure, and then I forgot about it,
because not knowing what the problem was there was only so much I felt I could pray.
That night, in the very middle of the night, I had to get up to let my two dogs go outside, and while I waited for them
to return there were these thoughts that came rushing to me. I was half asleep, but it was about Susan. I was told that Susan
had tried to kill herself, and that was why she was in the hospital. She tried to die yesterday, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Further, I was told to get three people, Christians, to
pray for her 1) that she would physically recover and 2) that the enemy would be cast out of her completely. While thinking
about all of this my dogs came back and I went back to bed. I was not sure where all this was coming from.
When asleep I dreamed and it was all about the same thing. There was a man, seated, and looking at me and he told me
that Susan had indeed tried to kill herself, and I was to tell my wife and contact my daughter to see if this was correct.
It would be. Then I was to do what I had been told. That was it. I believed it. There was nothing else to do.
First thing in the morning, wife was coming out of the bathroom and I told her what had been told me and she was
a very Christian lady with some experience in such things and could imagine somewhat what I was talking about.
First off she told me that she doubted that it was a suicide, but thought a minute and then said that she supposed that
it had to be something along those lines. I asked her to ask daughter if it was true, but by then I knew it was. She told me
she would ask.
Later she told me that daughter was more than surprised, but confirmed it. How did I know? I did as I was told and got three to pray
for what I had been told. Susan had taken some sleeping pills to kill herself, but she had been rescued from her overdoses by a neighbor, and sent to the hospital.
In a few weeks she came to visit relatives in the area and we talked to her. Daughter told her the whole story, and she seemed very changed and very much
on the side of the Lord. She has not tried it again in these 6 years and is from what I hear a changed person. It all happened
because of her, Susan, not because of me at all. May the blessed Lord's will be done always. Amen.
