So what do we Christians think about a leader who says this?


“The impulse towards intolerance and violence may initially be focused on the West, but over time it cannot be contained. The same impulses toward extremism are used to justify war between Sunni and Shia, between tribes and clans. It leads not to strength and prosperity but to chaos. In less than two years, we have seen largely peaceful protests bring more change to Muslim-majority countries than a decade of violence. And extremists understand this. Because they have nothing to offer to improve the lives of people, violence is their only way to stay relevant. They don’t build; they only destroy. [...] The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied.”

He is saying the American people should not talk bad about Islam. In other words if Christians even say Islam is a false doctrine we are speaking "slander" of the religion.

According to "Reliance of the Traveller," a standard Sunni law book approved by Cairo's Al-Azhar University, "slander" in Islam includes anything that Muslims perceive to reflect badly on Islam and its prophet, including the truth. In other words, any negative fact about Islam and Muhammad is, under Islamic law, deemed "slander."

The is a violation of our rights for one.

Hillary Clinton said last December, the Obama administration has been working with the OIC--Organization of Islamic Cooperation to "move to implementation" of U.N. Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18, an international law that would criminalize criticism of Islam.
 
Ahhh. Well, any democracy has the right to be critical towards opinions and statements.

We should have the right to say Islam is not the way to God, and that murder in Gods name is wrong, etc.
I'd like to add as a side not though, that many people (in general) claim to use their "liberty of speech" to bully others, which Christians should never do.

Slander of any form is not covered in freedom of speech, but what about Freedom of Religon?
Part of the Christian doctrine is teaching others to be on the lookout for false teachers. Muhummad is obviously a false teacher. Even preaching about Jesus is slander to Islam because they do not recognize Jesus as the Son of God. By implementing a law like this Christianity is silenced.
 
Yes, I realize that. That is kind of my point:

All religions and non religions should have the right to say that they are right and others are wrong, and none should have the right to silence others.

It's just that many use their freedom of speech to spread hate rather than truth, which isn't doing any good (Just look at any comment field in the media).
We need to use our freedom of speech right if we want to reach people :)

don't get it. sounds like he is saying if people are condemning the movie about Muhammad that tell lies (which the Bible condemns as well, if they are lies, slander is not speaking the truth but lying about another person, thus the definition of slander) then they must also condemn muslim extremist who burn churches or destroy images of Jesus Christ.

Sounds like he is speak out against ALL forms of hate from both sides. so I don't understand why that statement would be an issue.

The Libyan president said that attack that killed the US Ambassador was a planned terrorist attack, and had nothing to do with the Islamic movie.
Obama even knew the attack was due to terrorism within 24 hours of it happening.

I never said anything about freedom of speech other than slander is not part of our rights. I clearly said freedom of religion is violated

Obama's vision (the vision of his mind) is to create utopia subtly and mysteriously, his english is not very good it seem this may be purposefully intended, he speaks mysteriously in veiled language ideas to the norm of our country, his goal is to create a mixture pot of the United States of tolerance change of laws times and beliefs to create his ideas of utopia (a mixture of clay and iron of every ingredient of the human social world) he has shown that he is willing to do as he wills whether it is a transgression of the laws and rights of we the citizens of the United States to bypass any who will oppose Him. Seems like a he is a small (confined to the United States) antiamericanchrist. If one voted for him because of guilt based on what anyone knew prior to his election concerning his vision and idealism which was not known now we know much more four years later. His words and actions have revealed some of what is in his heart. In conclusion vote not on pity or feelings of sorrow or feelings of guilt for him or black Americans but upon what you see and hear from out of the issues of his heart which he has spoken (some) along with what his actions (great) have and will be.
 
...but you can say all the evil and horrible things they want about Christianity and America. Obama has got to go. He is a liar.
 
what about desecreted art. someone had a cross in jar filled with urine and it's supposedly art. or a statue of mary covered with his own poop. who wants to see that. Yet they are the victims
 
Im shocked why people expect the president to be some sort of spiritual leader. He isnt thats why you should have a church. You arent going to get and shouldnt get spiritual leadership from the head of a secular government. The quicker more christians realize this the faster we can actually elect a good leader and not have nutjobs in office

Obama's cheerleading for Mohammed, and you're fine with that? I don't look for a spiritual leader in a president, but I don't want one that acts like an imam either.
 
Islam has no prophets. It is a false belief system based upon the moon god of ancient times. See:ALLAH, the Moon God or look up allah the moon god. Therefore this statement is untrue.

I actually agree with Obama, not just with islam though. Slander against any religion should not be tolerated. People can believe whatever they want. Im not going to slander someone elses beliefs just because they differ from mine, they have the same free will that i do to choose what they want to believe.

And people who choose to say unkind things about Muslims don't have the same free will? We do have a Bill of Rights, you know.
 
SO just use the freedom of speech as a shield to demean and belittle others? that seems legit...
 
Slander in religion is a little different than slandering your neighbor

Every religion believes their way is the right way. IF I say that prophet of Islam was a false prophet what will the Muslim world think of me? Im lying. I am slandering their prophet.

In slandering an individual, the victim has to prove that their accuser(slanderer) is lying. In religion it isn't that easy. Especially in a court of law where religion is not allowed.
