Scott-

I am seriously concerned for your mental well-being. I think all your meds have altered your thinking.

I think we should agree that God's thoughts are not our thoughts, and God's ways are not our ways. Believe what one will about the doctrine of God, all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Your words are not fair and you need to stop using ad hominem illogic.

Denying the Trinity is a tradition of men

PS Do you believe the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are The Trinity of Three Persons in One God? Denying that belief is a "tradition of men".

You missed the point of the verse. Here, I'll post it again.

8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8)

If it is a tradition of men that is according to Christ, that is, a teaching that is in accordance with (comes from) scripture, then it is not essentially a tradition of men at all, since it came from God, not tradition. The traditions of men which mean nothing to me are those which are in addition to scripture.

6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. (1 Corinthians 4:6)

2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2)

32 Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it. (Deuteronomy 12:32)

5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. 6 Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. (Proverbs 30:5-6)

18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:18-19)

Dear livingbygrace:

By saying "God is not three persons", that is taking from the

Word of God. The Word nowhere teaches the Father, the Son,

and the Holy Spirit are not persons. That's a tradition. A

model, if you will.

It's not consistent with what we know about reality. A

non-person cannot produce a person. People are persons and

they pro-create persons. God the Father is a person, and He

begets a person, His Son, and another person besides His Son,

the Holy Spirit, proceeds from Him (John 15:26). The

Oneness/Sabellian people have not shown how Christ can be

a person, and that His Father, and His Spirit, can't be persons.

That's there inference, but it isn't found in Scripture. Persons

is a valid inference and it is found by logic of Scripture. The

Father has all of the characteristics of a person. So does the

Holy Spirit. And so does the Son. There is nothing impersonal

in God. God is not an "it". If the Father is not a person, and

the Holy Spirit is not a person, then they both are "its". While

the Son is a He, the God-man. Thus, Christ is a He, while the

Father is an "IT" and the Spirit is an "IT". That's a

semi-personal God. It's little better than Hinduism, which

also teaches that God is an "IT", and impersonal mass of

beings (many gods), who are all "IT/THAT".

Take care. In Erie / Scott

Not to think beyond what is written, or what is spoken by the

apostles 2 Thessalonians

2:15 refers to the words of the Apostles not written down

anywhere. So Scripture itself

does not say everything must be written down for it to come

from the apostles: some

tradition from the apostles comes from their words (2

THESSALONIANS 2:15). In Erie/

Scott "So then, brethren, be standing firm and holding fast

the traditions which ye were taught, whether by word or by

our epistle." 2 Thessalonians 2:15 ONT (Orthodox New

Testament, Vol. 2, page 340.).

Whether by word (unwritten spoken word) or by our epistle

(written word).

Not everything that the apostles taught as tradition was

written down; some came by word of the apostles

in addition to the NT writings.

Dear Scott

I read your human rationalisation, here's scripture

A certain ruler asked him

Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'
Why do you call me good?' Jesus answered. 'No-one is good except God alone

Luke 18:18&19

But those verses won't be a problem for you will they Scott, you are very resourceful!

True. Luke 18:18-19 is Christ our LORD speaking in Scripture.

Here's what the Bible also says about Christ: "For let this mind be in you which was also in

Christ Jesus, Who existing in the form of God, deemed it not a prize to be seized to be

equal with God; but He emptied Himself and too the form of a slave, and came to be in the

likeness of men. And having been found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and

became obedient even to death- indeed, the death of a cross. Wherefore God also exalted

Him exceedingly, and freely gave to Him a name that is above every name, that in the

name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and on earth and under the

earth; and every tongue should confess for itself that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of

God the Father." PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11 ONT Orthodox New Testament, Volume 2, page

Well you didn't disappoint me Scott!

Biut why quote Paul? You don't believe all he wrote, therefore his Apostleship must be called into question in your eyes

When it says that everything has been put under him it is clear that this does not include God Himself who put everything under Christ

1 Cor 15:27

Such is the confusion of the rational mind where scripture is concerned

Actually, why not just quote RC canon and ignore the Bible Scott. That is what you go by after all, the Bible is secondary to that!

Says who that I don't believe Paul? What is it that I am believing that is against anything in St. Paul. Show

me where I contradict St. Paul in any way? You're presuming a bit too much! Does Paul

teach the Deity of Christ, or not? You say I don't believe all that St. Paul wrote? Will you

kindly give a specific example of any way that I don't believe what Paul said?

No. I believe everything that St. Paul said.

Jesus Christ is LORD is not philosophy. It is the truth, it is Scripture. Christ said, "I AM the

way, the truth and the life, no one goes to the Father, but by Me." (John) Christ is God the

Son. It's not philosophy; it's the holy Gospel. Christ's question: "But who do you say that I

AM"? Who is Jesus Christ? In Erie/ Scott

Christ reigns now. All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to him by his Father

Matt 28:18

As Paul says
'Everything has been put under his feet, but that does not include God Himself(Paul's words not mine.)

But, when all dominion, authority and power have been defeated, Christ will hand over the kingdom to God the Father 1 Cor 15:24 and he will become subject to the Father

Then God will be all in all verse 28

I should add, the Father has given the son free reign. He has stood out of the way if you like and Christ rules, but obvioously not over his Father.

Bearing Matt 28:18 in mind 1 Cor 15:24-28 should become easier to understand
I'll go from verse 22, this shows WHEN Christ will hand over the kingdom to the Father

For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
But each in his own turn: Christ the firstfruits; THEN WHEN HE COMES THOSE THAT BELONG TO HIM
Then the end will come WHEN HE HANDS OVER THE KINGDOM TO GOD THE FATHER after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.
For he must REIGN UNTIL he has put all his enemies under his feet
The last enemy to be destroyed is death
For he(the Father) has put everything under his feet(echoing Matt 28:18)
Now when it says that everything has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God Himself who put everything under Christ
When he has done this, then the son himself will become subject to him who put everything under him so that God may be all in all

I'm sorry Scott but this is littered with the fact that the Father is the one true God

Firstly Christ was given authority from his Father.
You can only receive authority from someone greater than yourself
Paul confirms Christ's words in Matt 28:18 everything has been put under Christ's feet(all authority has been given to him)
By whom?
Well verse 27 states clearly God Himself
But Christ will hand the kingdom over to his Father at the time stated.

Now I don't often quote Revelation(don't ask me to again!) I was chatting to a catholic on another website. He said it is 'pliable' whatever that means so he wouldn't build theology on it, however

The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ and he will reign forever and ever
And the twenty four elders who were seated on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshipped God, saying
We give thanks to you Lord God Almighty
The one who is and was
BECAUSE YOU HAVE TAKEN YOUR GREAT POWER AND BEGUN TO REIGN

Rev 12:15-17

So who had been reigning before this? Christ, but now he has handed the kingdom over to his Father

People have asked is the Trinity real? How can God be three people? When he said in Deut 6:4...The Lord is God, The Lord is One.
Well the word One refers to Gods uniqueness and not to his being Alone. As most of you know the Old Testament was written in Hebrew. The English word "one" is translated into two words in the biblical Hebrew. The first is "YAHID" (unique, only son) gen.22:2
The second is "EHAD"(those united, becoming of one flesh) gen.2:24
...The Lord is God, the Lord is One. Translates and means that God is not solitary, even though He is unique. It suggests that God is united, or more than one person...

4 Hints in the Old Testament

1. Gen 1:26_ And God (singular) said, “Let US(Plural) make man in OUR (Plural) likeness…
2. Gen 3:22_ And the Lord God (singular) said” Behold, the man is become as on of US (plural) to know good and evil…
3. Gen 11:7_ Come let US (plural) go down, and there confound their language…
4. Isa 6:8_ Also I heard the of the Lord (singular) saying, “Whom shall I (singular) send and who will go for US (plural)?

God is Love… 1John 4:8 & 16. Before creation there was an eternity when God existed as Love. God could not have been Love if He was solitary…For who would He Love?

Truths of the Trinity in Scriptures

1. Gen 1:1_ In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth.
2. Heb 1:2_ Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, BY WHOM HE MADE THE WORLD.
3. John 1:1-3; 14_ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. _ And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld the glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
4. Eph 4:30_ And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed to the day of redemption.
5. Acts 5:3-4_ But peter said “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own power? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to man, but to God.
6. Matt 1:23_ Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call his name IMMANUEL, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US.

Jesus could not have become human without the Holy Spirit. Matt. 1:18-20. Jesus had to pray to God. And God could not have created everything without his Son Jesus. Heb. 1:2.

I believe that the Trinity is real and by reading this I hope you do to. But everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.

-GODBLESS!!!-

Well I didn't think you would accept such plain Biblical truth. As I know that the opinions of man for you come before the plainest of statements in the Bible

As I have previously said. You are following the intellectual mind of scholars/theologians. The greatest theologian of them all lives in each and every one of us. But sadly all to many will not rely on Him, but rather look to the worldly wise
