Whether you can or cannot lose your salvation is a debated topic and there are verses that point to both. If your son is born blind it is not because of your sin - God says he doesn't punish children for the sins of their parents.

[Edit] And every one of the saints was a sinner so don't beat yourself up. Try your best and God will be pleased.
