" Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God."


Looking at each word in the Greek.

"Therefore, you be not ashamed of the evidence given by the one with all power and authority, or of me His prisoner in bonds: but you be partakers of afflictions of the good news according to the higher forces working in this lower realm by the Supreme deity. "

I wanted to highlight the line, "or me His prisoner in bonds." The willing result of the surrendered life.

One of the blessings I have had for the last five years is the time to go as deep as possible into Gods word.
I take an epistle or gospel and write down almost every word. Then I get all the Strongs numbers from the interlinear, then get the exact definitions for each word, write the definitions down, then write out each chapter with those exact definitions .

At this pace, i should be finished with the NT in about one more year.

I wanted to highlight the line, "or me His prisoner in bonds." The willing result of the surrendered life.

Paul wrote this letter to Timothy from prison. I imagine there were many believers, knowing about his imprisonment, who blamed the powers that be. This sentence in the letter served as a correction to them: Paul was no one's prisoner except the Lord's. This brings to mind something the Lord said “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.” Paul knew with whom he had fellowship: Christ Jesus the Lord.

On a larger scale we see a principle of all of those who are in the Kingdom of the Son of His love yet still in the world.
