The air in the atmosphere is traveling the same speed as the earths rotational speed.

If the earth was really spinning in one direction at 1,040 Miles Per Hour the planes in my earlier scenario could not reach their destination at about the same time.

interesting let's say the earth is flat not turning at all, do you believe that wind is real if so then how would a plane fly to its destination against the wind and including no matter which direction it came from yet the plane having to meet the wind straight on because its destination is towards the incoming wind.

According to "KJV 611" the air in the atmosphere is traveling the same speed as the earths rotational speed. This is not all directions.

The wind is not moving 1,040 Miles Per Hour.

Sure they would. Let's say a plane is traveling from the west toward the east, the same direction the earth rotates. The plane is already traveling at a speed of 1040 MPH while it's still on the ground, but so is the earth. So in order for the plane to make any progress towards the east it has to be traveling more than 1040 MPH. So let's say the plane flies at 500 MPH. At this speed 1040 + 500 = 1540 MPH, the plane will will out-pace the earths rotation by 2000 miles in 4 hours. In other words a plane flying at 500 MPH will complete a 2000 mile trip in 4 hours.

Now consider the trip in reverse.... east to west. Again, the plane is traveling at 1,040 MPH before it even leaves the ground, so in order for that plane to make any progress towards the west it has to be traveling at less than 1040 MPH. So again let's say the plane flies at 500 MPH. At this speed 1040 - 500 = 540 MPH, the plane lags the earths rotation by 2000 miles in 4 hours.

Think of it like an ant on a spinning basketball... the ant travels across the ball at the same rate of speed releative to the ball no matter what direction the ant travels or the ball rotates.

:) neither is it outside in my Spherical world moving 1,040 miles per hour,, it's apparent you believe in the flat world Amen your more than welcome to believe in that it's perfectly ok.. Though I agree it can happen in another galaxy designed with those physics. Peace out :)
 
If the atmosphere is really moving from west to east at 1,040 Miles Per Hour with the rotation of the earth, why is it that jets experience turbulence flying in different directions? If a jet experiences turbulence with wind speeds at 100 Miles Per Hour, shouldn't jets experience turbulence all the time with the atmosphere moving from west to east at 1,040 Miles Per Hour?
 
If the earth was really rotating at 1,040 Miles Per Hour I should be able to jump up two feet off the ground at end up 1,525 feet from where I was standing, assuming I don't crash into something along the way.

Turbulence comes from wind not the earths rotation.

No you shouldn't because you're traveling at 1040 MPH also.
