I know very little about the Crusades.

I did watch the awesome film,Kingdom of Heaven,starring Liam Neason and Orlando Bloom,among other great actors.
Edward Norton was uncredited as King Baldwin IV of Jerusalem. I had no clue that was him. It doesn't even sound like him.

I remember going to see this at the movies with my movie-going friend. Sometimes she just wanted to see a movie for the sake of it.
Anyway I fell asleep in it and the battle scenes were long and boring. I also didn't really know what they were fighting about. It just didn't make any sense to me.
 
in short, the Crusades were a response by catholics to try and stop islam from expanding all across europe.

Looks like they failed. Also they made their churches/cathedrals so rich and gilded, that the islamic caliphs got jealous and tried to take over as they wanted them for themselves. Eg the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul/Constantinople. Although that was Eastern Orthodox

I mean have you been inside the Notre Dame?? And other basilicas eg Sacre Ceouer (I've only been to Paris in Europe, but there are many other examples)

Of course the CoE kicked out the Catholics in their own country and took over all the Abbeys and Monasteries eg. Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral

When people say 'church is not a building' they obviously haven't been to Europe.... for many centuries it WAS.

a lot of people go to see the most beautiful building/monument in all the world, one of the 7 wonders, The Taj Mahal, which is an islamic mosuelem (sp) to one of the wives of an islamic Emperor.

And also, there is the Alahmbra in Spain notable for it's beautiful paradise garden.

The crusades tried to stop mosques being built and the Catholics wanted Jerusalem for themselves after building so many churches in historic sites in Israel. But they seem to have got Mt Sinai wrong, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre apparently is not on the actual Cruxificition site or the tomb Jesus was buried for 3 days.

Different churches fight over ownership of the Holy Sepulchre.

Oh yea and there's that pesky Dome on the Rock.

So both Catholics and Islam are sort of fighting over real estate, it brings in a lot of money I guess from their tithes and offerings and pilgrimages.

Karlon, since we've been talking i'd like to get your attention on your comments here in this topic.
You know i'm from Albania right?
So when you throw yourself into these topics and not just this one but other topics where you call women fat for example, do you have any clue about the topics themselves of you just roll the dice for a combination of words and you call that wisdom?

Let me know what you think about this Karlon.

no, didn't know that. i do not keep notes on who's who. but i always hope that there are character checks by CC members to spread the word if anyone is not true & true.

But leaving that aside for a moment, someone else here in this thread told you that Albania has Christians so why would you randomly say that Albania doesn't have Christians?
You had a bad day or something?

character checks are done by people who think that someone may be a wretch or rogue or creepy & we have to protect the women on CC.. another term is a troll.

Looks like you're not capable to discuss this Karlon just like you were incapable to discuss with the ladies when they told you about your immature opinions about women gaining weight as they age. Great topic you started there buddy. lol

Okay, i don't have anything else to add here. Believe whatever you want. Believe that you're the only Christian in the world. You eventually reap what you sow tho.

found it. i can understand that someone would think what you thought & you are right. the topic says, "NO Christians". so that is my mistake. i read about those countries many years ago & the information was that both of them have a high level of atheism. i hope that has changed. my apology to you.
