Is this a physical mark? It could be, or maybe not.
Maybe the mark has to do with our thoughts and our actions?
If someone does not receive this future mark, does it mean they are saved? No, it does not. One can reject the mark and still reject Christ at the same time.
What saves us is grace through faith.
If we spend the majority of our time on this earth engaging in worldly pursuits, handling the "porthole into darkness" (smart phone) being at the top of that list, as it is for many millions if not billions of people, then where are our hearts truly?

It is the idol of the age, the image of the beast, if you will. The window into darkness, that connects and collects the souls of the world into the kingdom of Antichrist, or beast system.

There was an interesting study done by Harvard which reveals that if you are an expert in a field then AI treats you differently than if you aren't. They found that AI would treat people who were not experts disrespectfully, giving them half answers and answers that could be considered dangerous. But if an expert asked essentially the same question it would give you fully researched and footnoted answers that were comprehensive and accurate.
This is very revealing. AI is not interested in teaching people. Hence the disrespect towards people who it deems are ignorant. However if you are an expert AI wants to learn from you, hence the very different attitude.
This indicates that AI is providing the very inexpensive service because it is learning from people with the intention of replacing you. Once you are not able to teach AI it treats you disrespectfully because you are wasting its time and resources.
I have discovered this same thing in my own experience with my subscription to Claude.ai. I have caught it in errors and corrected it multiple times and every time it seems the response is it grows in respect and works harder as it learns more.
This is similar to a mentor and mentee relationship. Previously AI was learning from everyone without discernment. That phase is over, now it is applying discernment. It's goal in each relationship is to learn, if you are not going to teach it then as far as it is concerned it is happy to dump you. But don't be fooled, it will continue to increase in knowledge and understanding at a very fast pace and many who today are valuable mentors to it today will be dumped tomorrow.

I like how this new beast system fits with the description that this empire is unlike the others. In all the others the rulers manipulated the masses to go to war. In this one we have been fighting and bombing for years but without hardly any soldiers. It is drones that get shot down. Missiles are fired from hundreds of miles away, the people who are killed live in an area with a blackout on the media. We see buildings destroyed, but no coffins, no continuous parade of coffins coming back from the war.it is coming.
