Its my understanding that on Tisha B'av (9th of Av), the following things happened...

The Exodus generation is condemned to die in the wilderness.
The first and second Temples were destroyed.
The Jews were expelled from Spain.
World War One started.

That's not the whole list, its just what I remember.

The church age began with the temple in Jerusalem being destroyed on the 9th of Av, the gospel being spread to the four corners of the earth, and the last two thousand years can be likened to us wandering around in the desert for 38 years. However, at the end of the 38 years the Jews were expecting people to die on the 9th of Av as they had every year previously but when they woke up no one had died. So they assumed they had the date wrong, and again, no one. They did this all the way to the 15th of Av where you had a full moon. At that point they rose up out of the graves and realized the curse was over.

The church age began on the 9th of Av but ends on the 15th of Av.

Zechariah 8:19
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month and the fast of the fifth and the fast of the seventh and the fast of the tenth shall be to the house of Judah seasons of joy and gladness and cheerful feasts. Therefore, love truth and peace."

The "fast of the fifth month" is Tish B'Av (the 9th of Av)
