I've got the same problem. The technology of Internet does not currently allow for it, and believe me, I have tried. With more of our social lives going online every year, there are fewer and fewer people to connect irl. The only option is to write original music as a guide track, add tracks and e-mail the tracks to each other, and put the finished product online at youtube or somewhere. This is not the same of course, and recording takes skills that are not used in live playing. That's why I asked about where the OP lives. I know there are certain areas of the US that have many CC members, and perhaps a contact could be made.

Okay, I'll go first. I'm in southern Delaware. I play the keyboards (including classical and contemporary organ) and fretted strings, and can play anything with a little practice. I have a lifetime of worship music experience, I think about 10 recorded albums. Much of my work is on my website, and I would love to have a group again.

first, you never really know who is behind the computer screen. Even if a pic is posted. Im not accusing anyone but just playin it safe. Because even on Christian web sites funny things can happen.

I meant that if you would post roughly where you are, you might find someone who is near you. I did not mean it should be me, unless we were close geographically. I thought also it might not hurt me, if someone saw where I was too.
There is no safety issue. If you met someone near enough to you, you could communicate safely and anonymously through CC PM (private messaging at this site) to arrange further logistics. No picture need be posted, as it is about music. When you knew each other enough to try it, you could exchange e-mail address and exchange recordings via mp3 files as e-mail attachments. You can also post music to various websites for free, and hear each other that way. You can also hear each other privately over Skype phone calls, and CC has a chat room called "you sing" if you don't mind others being able to listen along as you play for each other. By that point, you would know them well enough to exchange phone numbers and discuss the risk of jamming in person.
I know for a fact professional commercial recording is now done over Skype. You can hear my music by simply downloading from my website. Many others at this site have more-or-less professional recordings posted to youtube and various other sites. Sharing music is easy, and requires no danger. Jamming over internet is barely possible, and quite expensive. But making contact with those a hundred miles away is really pretty easy, though time consuming.

I bet, if you put your approximate location and what kind of music you want to play in this thread, you would find people who could help you with all that, if they wanted to play with you. The reason I posted what I did last, was to encourage you, that you are safe saying something like I said (Southern Delaware, praise and worship, keyboards and guitar). If someone at CC sees that, and lives close to you, and wants to talk about having a band, they can post here or send you a message. Then, they will help you learn to do all this.
In other words, just use this thread to post a want ad: "Want to form band with other Christians in ...... area to play ......... music. PM me if interested." That was what I meant in my first post. Your first post did not say that, and I thought it would help you get your goal if you did that.
