Sunday 8-6-23 7th. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, AV 19 5783, 47th. Summer Day

Deuteronomy 10

Moses Rehearses God's Mercy

1 At that time the Lord said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.

2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.

4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the Lord spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the Lord gave them unto me.

5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the Lord commanded me.

6 And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.

7 From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.

8 At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, according as the Lord thy God promised him.

10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also, and the Lord would not destroy thee.

11 And the Lord said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.

Love God

12 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

13 To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

15 Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

17 For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

20 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

21 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

Love, Walter And Debbie

"Then they said to Him, 'What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?' Jesus answered and said to them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.' ” John 6:28-29

There's no conflict.

James 2:14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

I do wish the people who keep insisting ''You must obey the Ten Commandments'' added they themselves are unable to obey the letter of those commands. Then, they would not crush people who wrongly assumed people are fully obeying them. And sadly, many then walk away from the faith, believing they cannot be good enough for God. The second greatest commandment is being ignored

I don't think it's that. It's just that when you get saved, God gives you His Holy Spirit. It's the Holy Spirit that causes a saved person to live a godly life. Then the person's belief in God is then reflected in that person's actions through the Holy Spirit.

You'll know a saved person by their fruit.

I agree. However, what must we do to live an ever more Holy life? Look to the written commands of the Ten Commandments for example and determine to obey them, or is there another way?
If we really want to live an evermore Holy life, don't we look to Christ and trust him through the power of the Spirit to bring us to live an ever holier life? And, the more we do that the more the fruit of the Spirit appears in our lives. What does that produce?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law Gal5:22&23
The fruit of the Holy Spirit will not bring us into conflict with any applicable law of God for that fruit is the embodiment of how God wants us to live our lives. As Paul said:

But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. Rom7:6

The Holy Spirit will guide us and cause is us to live as we should accordingly. It's not complicated.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Everyone that accepts Christ departs from iniquity and those are the people the Lord knows.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The Lord did not know these people because they were workers of iniquity.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some people think they are alright with God despite their sins denying being led of the Spirit.

A Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh for they have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts, and show the ways of the Spirit, and God will not allow them to be tempted above what they are able, and will give them an escape from the temptation.

So there is no excuse.

Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Sin separates us from God but many people hold on to sin and think they are alright.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Pro 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Jesus said fear God and the fear of the LORD is to hate evil, and the evil way.

People who sin do not fear God.

Also love is greater than faith, and faith works by love, and love does not think an evil thought, and does not rejoice in sinning, but rejoices in not sinning.

Paul said we do not void out the law through faith, but we establish the law.

Which the law is spiritual, holy, just, and good, which are the moral laws, laws of love.

We are called to obedience and those that accept Christ have to depart from iniquity for it is part of the package.

Joh 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

So this would mean we have to depart from iniquity when we confess Christ having an understanding we have to be obedient and turn from sin.

But the Bible says some are learning and never able to come to the knowledge of that truth.

Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Joh 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecc 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

It is all about obedience but in the Old Testament they could not perfect it but in the New Testament we can by the Spirit.

For it is about having the Spirit so you can overcome the flesh, and be compatible with God, and repentance, and the blood, gets us there.

1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

When a person that accepts Christ sins they are being rebellious against God and asserting their own ways instead of the ways of the Lord.

People that hold on to sin thinking they are alright with God are asserting their own ways instead of the ways of the Lord and they think they are right.

For there are millions of people claiming Christianity that live in sin and think they are alright but we have to be obedient.
