On Tuesday, November 26th, DuchessAimee steps off of an airplane at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. As she is collecting her bag from baggage claim, Shouryu, who is in Dallas to spend Thanksgiving with his brother's family, finds her, and greets her with a hug. Although it is nearly midnight, Aimee's flight was long, so they stop at a Steak'n'Shake for a steakburger and a shake. (Well, yeah.)
After a few hours of sleep, they meet for breakfast (and some fellowship with Shour's parents), then get on the road. They drive about 90 minutes east, not over a river but definitely through the woods, to Catlynn's house. Already at Catlynn's house, having arrived about 10 minutes earlier, is Grace-Like-Rain. Also at Cat's house are Kyla and Viola, Cat's daughter and playmate respectively.
Shour starts a batch of sbiten in the first crockpot.
Cat whips lunch up for the girls, then she and Shour dash off to the grocers for provisions.
Aimee entertains the girls as Gracie whips out a paintbrush and puts butterflies on their faces.
Cat and Shour return, and everyone goes into cooking mode.
The girls retire for their afternoon nap.
The four adults sit down for a lunch of larp gai (Thai seasoned ground meat with jasmine rice).
We blab about things like forgiveness and trust before playing a card game.
Viola's mother picks her up. We pause the game so Gracie can touch up Viola's butterfly.
Shour dices potatoes to go into the stew.
Gracie paints Cat's face. Shour records. Youtube video to follow.
After the game, we watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog. Because we're nerds.
Dinner - green chile stew! Cat has fluffy tortillas stashed away - clever girl!
Cat's roommate, Amy, joins us. Amy and Aimee!
Gracie paints Amy's face.
Round of pictures on the couch before Gracie has to leave.
We blab about the nature of God and salvation.
We tease Cat. Shour does a dramatic reading in a voice that is "half Leonard Nimoy and half Sean Connery."
Shour notices that it's 11:30. "I have to drive back to Dallas!!!"
Fun was had.
