She was the shining star in her daddy’s eyes. She was the one that brightened everyone’s day. She was always smiling, laughing, and telling even strangers that she loved them. It was about making a gloomy day, much brighter.
She enjoyed the outside, no matter how hot, or cold. Hardly ever a complaint to leave her lips, only glee and joyful words. Nothing seemed to bother her, to any degree. This was a dream come to to two parents who had believed they would never have any children.
He was someone that was a strong soldier since birth. He was someone who was eager to be born, regardless of the current circumstance. He had many birth defects, with some major health issues. One in which where his lungs were not full developed.
He stayed in an incubator for three months, his parents had to make the worst decision that they would ever haft to make. To allow the machines to breathe for him, or to cut the machines off and allow nature to take it’s course.
However, he was a fighter none the less. He stood firm in his own little body, and fought his way through with flying colors. This one situation had frightened his own family.
One evening, it was getting dark, this little guy was stretching in his incubator. His hand accidentally knocked the breathing tube from his nostrils. Was it told before that this little guy was a fighter?
His parents had thought that it was still on him, to help him breathe through the night as they slept. They were wrong. The machine was off for well over nine hours. As they awoke, they were frightened. What parent wouldn’t be right?
They rushed to catch up with a nurse in the hall. They were frantic, screaming, asking questions to as how this hospital could have aloud this to happen?
The nurse replaced the breathing tube on the infant. However, in this situation, a baby would be blue in the face from lack of oxygen. This little fighter was far from it. His cheeks were red, he was smiling, he was very happy to be alive.
It was a miracle as any miracle would be. He was indeed a fighter. Nothing could have ever stopped this little guy. He was a worrier, he was ready to taker on the world. Maybe this little push was all he needed after all.
His parents had indeed counted their blessings, not a day had gone by that was taken in vein. They cherished every second, of every day with their precious baby boy.
Years progressed as these two became stronger. She was the head of the Debate Team, as he was the one that everyone saw as, ‘cool.’ Needless to say, these two grew up on the apostate parts of the Country. Until they both got accepted to the best college in New York.
They were both Sophomores in college when they met, he had the pocket protector inside his shirt pocket, with black rimmed glasses. He may have had some defects, however his mind was profound in knowledge. It happened fairly quickly as they were both walking down the hall.
He accidentally bumped into her, allowing her books to drop on the floor. His pulse began to race in embarrassment, as he fought for the words for a simple apology. She looked at him with locked eyes, brushing her hair behind her ear. All she could do was to smile.
He picked up her Biology text and noticed a certain flyer that had slipped from it’s cover. “Space Shuttle launch, Florida, BE THERE, BE SQUARE.” He began to laugh with a blush. Never had he known such a beautiful lady to like the same things he had.
She was wondering what he was laughing at. She felt embarrassed to ask, then he pulled out the same flyer from his back pocket. “Would you like to go with me? It can be casual of course, I just never had any true friends who shared the same interests as I do.”
She fumbled for words of her own as she replied, “true friends?” She said with her blue eyes glowing, a smile stretched across her cheeks. He began to blush more, “yes, if that is OK? The name is Jamie. Yours?” He stuck his hand out for a hand shake.
Her eyes grew large in disbelief. “Jamie? Are you stalking me or something? That is my name.” He stepped back about to fumble over his own feet. While putting his hands in-front of him for defense. “I assure you, I am no stalker, here is my I.D.”
They exchanged their school I.D.s and smiled at each other. “I will see you at the bus terminal for Florida Jamie,” She said with a smile. “You bet Jamie, enjoy your weekend.” He replied with a grin.
The event in Florida was like non-other. The crowd was cheering when the shuttle blasted off. It was a dream come true to these two, mainly because since childhood, the lady named Jamie had always wanted to be an Astronaut.
The guy named Jamie, well he simply wanted to study the shuttle itself. In turn, during the blastoff Jamie got closer to him. Inch, by inch she neared to him for comfort. Without realizing she grabbed his hand, and held on tight. The excitement she was experiencing was like a firework on The Fourth of July inside of her own heart.
His hands began to tremble, he had always wanted to feel another’s hand within his own. This very day, they both fell in love without telling the other.
Many times after this trip they had gone out. The candle lit dinners had always been her favorite. As he sang lightly while holding her hand within his own.
Times like these had hardly ever lasted. Time had it’s own way to express it’s own emotion. It goes so fast, that it was just like yesterday that they had gotten married.
