Hi Yania,

Welcome to CC :). I'm glad you brought this up, as I'd been thinking about this teaching for a few weeks and want to ask people out there which passages support it.

As a kid, we were taught things such as, "If the only person in the world had been you, Jesus would have come and died, just to save you."

For all our fellow posters out there who read this thread--which passages support this belief? I've been wondering this a while, as I can remember being told this several times in my life but was never given the verses, so this is a great opportunity.

Thanks again for posting this, Yania, and Happy New Year.

[h=1]2 Corinthians 5:17[/h] [SUP]17 [/SUP]Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come[SUP]:[/SUP] The old has gone, the new is here!

The verse above does not answer the question, "Might God have sent Jesus for the sins of just one sinner?,"
but it does remind each reader the transforming power of Christ, for those who are in Him.
Jesus died for all, that whoever believe in him would not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).
That includes you, Jesus died for you. Do you believe that he did? I do.

Luke 15:4-7

4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Thread OP sounds like one of my favorite songs in my collection.

"He never favors me above the rest
Though I can't help feel that I am blessed
And He treats me best, this I often say
But then all the Father's children feel this way

Cause He loves me like I was His only child
I've never been so loved before
How could I ever ask for more"

Parable of the lost sheep, parable of the lost coin, parable of the prodigal son (paying attention to the elder brother's reaction and the father's answer to the elder brother.)

Yes,yes and yes! The"grace parables"I call them. They convey the very heart of God.

Other posters beat me to the parables, so I'll post this one II Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us ward, not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance."

Kind of a backward answer, but if He loves us all, He also must love each one.
