The only reason I clicked on Informative, is an eye opener to the way you think.

I doubt if you know, but in the worship of Apollo, the Pagan Priests used to teach their followers to pray tongues as far back as 400 years before Pentecost after the LORD's Ascension in this exact manor:

If you say batta, batta, batta over and over again, AS FAST AS YOU CAN, the gods will turn it into a heavenly language that only they can understand.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it. Even Plato called it DIVINE FRENZY.

Our LORD even referred to it:

Matthew 6:7 (NIV)
7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling [battalogeo - babbling words] like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

I noticed that in an earlier post and it is quite fascinating. It is also interesting considering the fact that some churches will whisper into people's ear exactly what to say and will tell them to repeat the same word over and over again which is wrong. In fact, some "holy ghost" preachers will use any trembling of the lips at the alter as someone speaking in tongues because it increases their numbers for how many received the Holy Ghost at their rally which is absolutely wrong. These practices can in fact invite the wrong spiritual entities. Like I previously stated, I do not believe that people should necessarily seek speaking in tongues for the sake of speaking in tongues but rather should seek Jesus first, if one does speak in tongues(which is, in fact, Biblical) than they have been blessed with the ability to speak in tongues, which is great, if someone does not get that experience there is no harm. Some Pentecostals would condemn my view, but I believe I have a balanced view.

One more thought, speaking in tongues before actually having Jesus in your life is terrible. Many believe that tongues is a spiritual language that happens when you have the Holy Spirit, the issue is that one can also have evil spirits and speak in tongues because it is a spiritual language. This is the inherent dangerous because one who solely seeks tongues can find evil spirits and not the Holy Spirit. This is why I keep saying that people need to seek Jesus first.

Exactly, that's why when God sends a message to his church through tongues there is an interpretation. If there is simply tongues it is God and the person in tongues spirit who are speaking together
Tongue is language, it requires no interpretation unless the person is from another country.

When God has spoken He has used an earthly language.

This does not make any sense, I have seen things like this with no tongues speaking, In fact it has happened in my life..
I am not denying that it cannot happen without speaking in tongues, I have had similar experiences without tongues, I am just saying that God sometimes chooses to work in this way.

I have never heard a great booming voice from heaven speak. I have heard God speak through the Holy Spirit through tongues and interpretation.

It would seem some congregations have also adopted this practice as well.

There is only "languages" in scripture, there is no "tongues" what you are call tongues is actually "ecstatic speech/utterances."

What translation do you use? If I may ask so I can read through a couple Bible verses with it?

How do you know it was from God? Did someone speak in some non-human language that you understood?

When God has spoken He has used an earthly language.

I will play along, let's say there is a heavenly language and just leave it at that.

When God was on earth, why would He ever use that Language? He was here for 3 things (Law - Sac Lamb - and to be a physical example of how we should be and live).

How could God be that example for us if He spoke in the heavenly Language (if there is one)?

Of course He spoke to us so we could understand Him!!

That is like telling an employee of mcdonalds you need to remove the wrapper before eating a cheeseburger. Like the employee does not already understand this!!

I have witnessed it on a couple of different occasions. People will be praying, and someone will feel inclined to speak out in tongues and someone else in the congregation will receive the message from God that is the interpretation of the tongues. I have never interpreted because it is a spiritual gift and is not for everyone. You can tell that an interpretation is coming because you can feel it in your Spirit.

Do you speak any other languages fluently?

Espano, Francais, some Deutsche, English, learning the Chinese dialects and want to learn Russian.

Forgot, learning Hebrew by way of the Torah, it's the characters of the Hebrew Alphabet I am struggling with lol

I should add Greek, because I have been really studying more from parallel bibles:

So you agree then, there is no need for any other language then the one we know. God understands us and if He should speak we can understand Him when He uses our native language. Awesome!!!:)

If you read John 14, when Jesus was ascending to heaven he promised the sending of the Holy Spirit, tongues is apart of the Holy Spirit and thus came to heaven following Jesus's time on earth.

Yes... We don't need another language to speak to God, I have never denied that. But we can use tongues through the Holy Spirit to edify our Spirit. It's like communion, we don't need it to go to heaven, but we use it to edify our Spirit.
