A one word mistranslation can be misleading

Either that John isn't the baptist John or has someone shuffled the verses aka sentences up. Out of order per say..
I'm leaning to the latter,,, I have a project I'm working on in clearifying some of these issues...
 
John was thinking BC he was in prison that Jesus would set him free in some way.. just like Lazarus, Jesus had a mission not of His own.. J the B was told to chill and trust....

I hear what your saying, but its still in the realm of just a theory for there's no bible proof to that. As I posted John testimony says he testifies this be the Son of God he baptized without a doubt or chill out and trust...

John knew that Jesus was the Son of God.

His question was "are you the promised Christ who will deliver us from Romans etc?"

Because John (like also the Judaism as such) was probably expecting a victorious Christ, bringing the kingdom to the national Israel.
So this idea was not compabitle with John being in the prison.

There is, therefore, no problem with these verses.

Sound cool but nothing to back that theory up in scripture.. And scripture says John was to lead the way of Jesus and he did and he completely believe Jesus was the Son of God in his own words...
 
It was revealed to John that Jesus was the son of God, as was to Peter.. the things He had to do was not..

Easy to doubt when you think you know something.. All the disciples scattered yet they had seen His power.. What He went thru shook them.. same with John his perception didn't match reality
 
Matt 11:2 this verse is out of place for its from another section smilier which doesn't speak of John in prison so in Luke is more fitting..

Luke 7
18 John's disciples told him about all these things. Calling two of them,
19 he sent them to the Lord to ask, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?"
20 When the men came to Jesus, they said, "John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, `Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?'"
21 At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind.
22 So he replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
23 Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."
24 After John's messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: "What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind?

Because Matthew 11:1 says when John was in prison and in Luke 7:18 it doesn't say John in prison at all and both chapters are speaking on the same thing.. So in Matthew 11 it could very well been a missed placed or translated word the Word Prison...
 
The man in the tomb is the same way.. idk why some things are written one way and others are not.. relevance to crowd?

The writings on Mary who anointed Jesus aren't all the same either..
 
I've looked into this logically,,, IMO speculation or theory is just that I have looked more to the word Prison. IMO the word Observants or watch the plural form of prison is more fitting when used in its Greek or Hebrew plural form in the context of the verses used when explaining what John doing while his disciples were speaking to Him about Jesus and this is before the baptism of Jesus when John had not seen Jesus yet.. IMO

Shamar or Mishmar being the orginal word and Prison being the translated word of it..

Since Luke 7:18 on is the same as Matthew 11:2 on

Lk7:18 John's disciples told him about all these things. Calling two of them,

Mt11:4 Jesus replied, "Go back and report to John what you hear and see:

Good Post...that translation sounds more like it.

I just have a hard time believing that John the Baptist, a man who had came in the spirit and power of Elijah...and who had witnessed that Jesus was the Messiah...got put in prison and then began doubting...

Yup that's it a nut shell, just a simple mistranslation of the word prison, though many don't see that and come up with a Godzillion reason not to believe it could be just a misinterpretation of the word prison.
