I have hear many people wanting to report to mod or admin of behaviour from the person they have accounted. but on many occasions they could not find a mod online to report too. I know there are different times zones and mods come online in there own time. Every time I have logged on, I have always seen a mod even the admin now and then. But for those who don't see any moderators. maybe there can be a report button embedded in the pm chatting or even in main room? Then the reports can go direct to any mod who come online to deal with the person.
 
This is not a bad idea in theory, but in practice, people may misclick or abuse it, or even click it intentionally with no intention of reporting anything (other than the impression that they're immature).
 
Siberian_Khatru. I meant, when someone does a report, it sends a copy of there chat, so the mods can see who really said what and how the problem started. that way. the mod will know the report is genuine.
 
Richie, there is a policy for this in place. You need to copy/paste the offensive statement into a CCmail, or private message, and send the copy to a mod.
The only time you really need a mod immediately is if someone is in the chat and being directly offensive. But even then if one isn't on, you just copy/paste and send it to a mod. If its in a chat room PM they can copy/paste the offensive remarks and then put the person on ignore so they can't continue.
There are two methods to find the names of all the mods. On the main page of the site, when you first log in, at the very bottom it says 'view site leaders'. Also at the top of the page under 'quick links' is the same link.

I think they don't want a report button because people would be misusing it constantly. They already have this problem in the forums, where there is a 'report' button on each post. From what i have heard from mods, they ignore most reports, because people report for every little thing. Even just having a disagreement with someone. People have two doctrines, they argue, and someone reports the person for having a differing opinion. Happens a lot.

Ugly reaffirmed what the concern is with this.

Like I said: theoretically, I agree that it is a good idea and stands to be a handy feature. The problem is not the proposition; the problem is the users.
 
If you have a problem, work it out.
This site is fertile ground for biblical arguments.
People will disagree, and sometimes harshly, but the last thing the moderators need is 1500 reports.
It's like a family, you can work it out....and if they keep offending you just put them on ignore - that way you'll never have to read any of their posts again.

I apologize if I come off as obstinate, but I don't fully agree. I'm with you 100% that people should make the effort to iron it out, if you will. But the idea behind reporting is to address those that are deserving of reprimanding (i.e., offenders), not for simple disagreements. And with the secularists that join the site, the community on the whole is not like a family, unfortunately.
 
I also apologize if I came off as obstinate too. However, it was a suggestion, and I can understand and agree and disagree with all comments made. How ever I was thinking about the new Christians who join this site, who don't know much how the site works properly. Of course theres going to be agreements and disagreements, as it happens in real families. and I totally agree that we on this site should be mature enough to sort any diffeences out, however its not about differences, its about feeling a little more protected on this site for new comers who are here or who join to make good frends, and enjoy this site to help them spiritually grow. that was the purpose of the idea. God bless all.
 
Once some final work is done on the recent forum upgrade I believe that Robo plans on turning his attention to updating the chat app. Among other improvements I believe that a private message report button will be in the works.

 
That would be great, I was always concerned someone could get banned by someone else making up a chat and pasting it to a mod.

hahaha, have fun with that mods. Every guy who PM's a girl for date or marriage is going to be flooding you guys all day. Or anyone who PM's someone with a 'don't PM me' message. We will never see another mod in chat, between forums and chat reports you'll be too busy, hahaha. ;)
 
well that's good then if RoboOp is working on ways to improve to help this place to be a more safer place and more enjoyable place for everyone. and to hear that improvements to pms, will be a welcoming note to everyone.

True. A supposedly copy pasted text of an original pm is no 'evidence' as such. Making a printscreen is a better idea. It's much harder to edit such a JPEG file than just text.
