I find it odd that you generate many posts about Sabbath and none (that I can recall) about Jesus.

The only true "rest" any of can have is because of Yeshua/Jesus, and IS Him. The only rest that's truly important in life is the rest from our own strivings and failings. The rest from the punishment and death that comes from our flesh. By His life, death and resurrection, we are able to be cleansed. Truly, His blood that covered my sin is what allows me to have right standing before God. It is His mark on my life. His sign. I'm broken, I'm humbled, and I'm grateful for the sacrifice that was made for me.

My entire life should be a sign of my thankfulness for that. Daily, I seek to have Him lifted up, glorified, and to see His Kingdom strengthened in me and in others. The Sabbath is a portion of that. It is a day that God set apart from all others. It's a day that God told His people to set aside, and worship Him, serve Him, and serve others. By honoring the Sabbath, even just physically, it provides us the opportunity to honor Him. Not the only way, but a way. It's a way to physically rest from our struggles because we know the only true rest is Yeshua. That's what we celebrate. Truly, as Paul said, the substance of everything, and this day, IS Yeshua.

Now you may disagree about keeping the Sabbath, or say that it's done away with, or that we're trying to earn our salvation. That's fine. You're entitled to that opinion. Heaven knows there have been enough threads lately where both sides keep promoting their scriptures and their reasoning and their opinions to support or thwart the Sabbath. Again, that's fine. Be fully convinced in your mind, by letting the Spirit teach you. Has He laid a physical sabbath on your heart? Obviously not. Has He laid it on mine? Obviously so. I don't judge anyone for not keeping it. I trust that God's people are being obedient to the things He's laid on their heart. And I respect and appreciate that.

These threads that I post every week are meant to be an encouragement to those celebrating the Sabbath. That's something God laid on my heart to do when I joined this forum. To weekly, encourage this little "cult"(:p) that keeps the Sabbath. And apparently there are some people who dislike this idea of the Sabbath so much that they can't stand to have people bless and encourage one another because of that. I think that's sad. If those folks could set aside their disapproval of the Sabbath, and look at the words and the encouragement that are being spoken, it's a pretty cool thing. Be appreciative of that. Be thankful that the Body is encouraging one another.
Hebrews 3:13 "But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."

Thankfully, the Sabbath is also "today".

I like @1:56 when the little boy yawned and no one reprimanded him.
Happy Sabbath!

I believe you have misplaced concern.

You have misused a verse against people who believe the Sabbath is to be observed...

I'm starting to believe people feel threatened by this belief.

Galatians 5

Erm.... no mention of Sabbath but of circumcision.

You have been severed from Christ, you who [b]are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. Gal 5:4
Paul is applying his concerns to those who practice the law, not just circumcision. Read the above verse again, it says "You who are seeking to be justified by law". You can try to justify your "observance" of sabbath but sabbath is still a part of the law, as circumcision is. If you keep one portion of the law,you will be condemed by the rest. If you attempt to keep any law of Moses you have no need of Christ's death on the cross.

I will say this again and I hope it will sink in. If you are observing sabbath because you feel you are obligated to do so by the Mosaic law, then you must keep the entire Mosaic laws or you will be condemned by it. If you are observing sabbath purely of your own free will and do not consider it law, then by all means enjoy sabbath.

As I mentioned before, I have engaged in some Jewish activities, but I do so for the fun of it. The law of Moses has no hold on me as I am covered by the blood of Christ and seek to do His will.

I'm glad no one points a gun at my head forcing me to rest today. It's from the thought that He rested, blessed the day and made it holy so I might as well.
However, many are implicitly or explicitly putting unwarranted guilt on me - like if you observe Sabbath you must observe the whole law and do animal sacrifices - that's the burden I can do without.

My intentions are not about guilt or compulsion. I mostly want to be a sign post that points others to Jesus.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I understand being blind to so many scriptures that plainly say we are to keep God's commandments and the faith in Jesus.
I understand it because, good as my God fearing people were, they had been deceived by the world, thus I believed as my forefathers taught.

Does anyone appear to you that he/she does not know Christ so far?
Perhaps I'm bothered by your "nice try" comment.

I am terribly sorry your feelings got hurt by my comment.

I don't claim to know you, I can claim I have observed you on cc. I've observed you seem to carry a lot of hurt in your heart.
I recognize it because I have lashed out at others because I was hurt myself. Sometimes when we hurt, we want to hurt others, but that never makes our hurt go away. In fact, it adds to our own hurt to inflict others. In my case, unforgiveness to others I perceived had done me wrong. It was only until I realized they had sinned against God, and not me. God owns us all, we owe all to Him. Give those burdens of thinking someone owes you something to God. Nobody owes to anyone, but to God, who made them.

I am terribly sorry your feelings got hurt by my comment.
Sorry let me clarify it's the way you said it made me feel you think all who observe sabbath are legalists who don't know Christ and thus my question. Feelings not hurt.

Imagine how I feel. We get a disproportion of people who claim and frequently post we must obey the sabbath, especially if this will cause a person to be cut off from Christ. Here is a small list of things I have read and heard on this site from Judaizers.

1) Obey the Sabbath
2) Sunday church attendance is the mark of the beast.
3) We must eat kosher foods only.
4) Hebrew is superior to Greek.
5) The New Testament can not be trusted as being accurate but we can trust the Old Testament.
6) We need to call Jesus by his Hebrew name (Yeshua, Yashua, Yahoshua, etc) only.
7) Some books in the New Testament are not scripture.

I could go on but what is the point? It is a non stop perverted theological onslaught against Christians by people who seem to be nice, kind and sincere but might be leading people away from the gospel of Christ. I can only hope and pray that I can influence you or others to abandon the law Christ fulfilled and only follow Christ's commandments.

You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. Gal 5:4

The whole Bible can be trusted

If there are things in the new testament you cant trust, you need to change your doctrines

We all have to change our doctrines, no one is right, that is why we have the Bible

Stuudy and Jesus says SEARCH the Bible

you search to FIND something that was covered up

covered up by church of england theologions trying to veryify the kings agenda

but the original words are still there

just look up the words

King james is the best greek based text
Hebrew based text is superior,

all have translator bias especially the hebreww

that is why we should used three or four versions

KJV, aranaic, Geneva Bible is good that was before the king jamesyou can get it at e-sword.com

But it doesnt matter
what is interesting
whatever Bibl you use
if you look up ALL the texts
you always come up with the
SAME DOCTRINE

there is only one doctrine and all the Bibles ven (believe it or not) the catholic douey and the Jehovhs witnes Bible even these will show that
there is noe ever burning hell
Satan dies eventually and turns to ashes
We must KNEEL in worship in the templ
we need to be SILENT in church not rock n roll demonic worship
God created the world in seven days
the sabbath is the blessed day of worship
Noah obeyed and was saved
CAin disobeyed and was lost
Remarriage after divorce is adultery
keep the commandments

its all there.

Since this thread is about Sabbath so let's due with Sabbath first.
How many people here did you find saying we must obey the Sabbath over Christ rather than we obey Christ and thus we obey the commandments including observance of the Sabbath?
How many people here teach we must obey the Sabbath in order to be saved rather than we are saved and thus we obey the Sabbath?
The question really boils down to whether scripture (the first 39 books) is still relevant for Christians rather than justification by law. So please stop saying that.

Again, I am not speaking of all Sabbatarians, just legalists and Judaizers. A Christian legalist has an improper and excessive/abberant devotion to obeying the commandments to attain salvation or to maintain salvation or to judge others. A Judaizers is a Christian who insists we must keep a single or some or all Jewish law(s) from the Mosaic laws.

Paul had to deal with Judaizers who claimed new gentile converts must be circumcised. Here at CC we get Judaizers who claim we must also keep the sabbath. Many won't say you must obey the sabbath to be saved but many feel if you do not keep the sabbath you are in a state of disobedience before God. Most Christians thru the centuries have rejected this claim out right, as I also have.

You claim that you obey Christ and the commandments. If by commandments you means the 613 commandments Moses gave the Jews by God's command (AKA: the mosiac laws) then I claim you are in error. However, if by commandments you mean the commandments that Christ gave us then I wholeheartedly agree. Jesus came to fulfill the Mosaic laws.

Circumcision of the penis (which was said to be forever) became circumcision of the heart.
The temple on temple mount was changed to we are the temple of God.
Jews could not wear mixed fiber clothing was changed to we put on the incorruptible.
The Jews were ordered to foods which would not defile them was changed into think on things which good.
The sabbath was changed into Jesus is our sabbath.
Animal sacrifice was changed when Christ became the ultimate sacrifice.
...and so on.

The sabbath was never given to gentiles. 9 of the 10 commandments are ratified in the New Testament and keeping the sabbath is never ratified in the New Testament, not even a single time.

All scripture is relevant but not as you claim. Jesus came to fulfill the the law and that changed everything, as I mentioned above. There is no problem if you wish to observe the sabbath but there might be a serious problem if you think the sabbath is current law.

The Messiah justifies my observance, set free to serve in liberty, faith that worketh by love.

I consider it part of the law of love.

One is not condemned if they believe on the Messiah, Son of GOD.

My belief is that the Messiah taught us to Keep and Teach the Commandments even to the least.

Again, I am not speaking of all Sabbatarians, just legalists and Judaizers.
But you are classifying Sabbath keepers as legalists and Judaizers in all of your posts in those Sabbath threads because you never asked who they are and even if they said they are not you are still preaching the same, are you not?

Do you have to make every Sabbath thread a debate over law?

See without fail every time Sabbath is discussed someone will always bring up animal sacrifices.

I thought you are not speaking against Sabbath keepers so why keep bringing this up?

All scripture is relevant but not as you claim.
Have I claimed anything or do you just assume?
Jesus came to fulfill the the law and that changed everything, as I mentioned above. There is no problem if you wish to observe the sabbath but there might be a serious problem if you think the sabbath is current law.
Why do you keep bringing this up? Did you really read my posts and for that matter any Sabbath keepers' posts or do you just want to provoke or fight?

Let's be specific, which sabbath are we talking about, the fourth commandment sabbath, the ceremonial sabbaths? It does'nt require much research on this to discover that, for most of Christian history the fourth commandment sabbath was taught as in effect, and applicable to the day we now call Sunday. Saterday advocates (a fairly recent phenomenom) would have us believe that the fourth commandment sabbath is traceable, in a cycle of sevens, back to Genesis. This cannot be done. Also, the fourth commandment requirment is for---one day in a cycle of sevens. We can trace this one day in a cycle of sevens back to the early church and scripture. Which day this was is revealed in Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2, 9; Luke 24:1; John 20:1, 19; Acts 20:7 and 1 Cor. 16:2. "Week" as in these verses is from Strong's #4521, sabbaton/sabbatons. These witnesses tells us that the disciples and early church honored the day we now call Sunday as the fourth commandment sabbath. Don't believe me, look it up it's there. The New Testament, no less than seven times, identifies sabbaton as "the first day of the week." The reason the religious establishment does not tell us this is because they are primarily anti-nomian and want us to assume that the fourth command was abrogated, that neither Saterday or Sunday apply. This interpretation crept in only a couple generations ago, when stores and restaurants began opening on Sunday. Jesus "did not come to destroy the law" (Matt. 5:170, so the bottom line is no, the Ten Commandments have not been reduced to nine.

Historicist

Nice try, but legalism and "judaizing" are false gospel messages (false or aberrant doctrine). The gospel is embodied in John 3:16. Believe in Jesus and be saved. The false gospel of legalism and Judaizing (often taught in christian cults) blurs the distinctions between the Old covenant of law and the new covenant of Grace. An example of this would be the assertion that we must believe in Jesus, obey the Sabbath and only eat kosher foods to be saved or approved by God.

I have eaten Kosher foods. I have attended Passover Seders. I have a mezuza on my door. However, I have done these things as purely elective and not out of a sense compulsion to law. So if you elect to observe the Sabbath that is fine, but if you are doing it because you believe it is law then you have been severed from Christ.

My original comment was not about observing the sabbath. It was about how Matt seems to only post on the sabbath, defending the sabbath observance, etc and rarely seems to mention Jesus. Where on focuses is where one's treasure is, right? Was I judging or showing concern?

Colosians 2:16 does not apply to me or others who warn or argue with those who claim the sabbath is law. Col. 2:16 is about freedom from the law. If you claim that I must keep parts of the old covenant and new covenant. It is adding new wine to old wine skins. The wine skins will burst and the wine becomes wasted on the ground.

Complete and total twisting of Col 2:16-17. It plainly says two things...

1) Don't judge another for keeping the Sabbath
2) The Sabbath is a shadow of things YET to come.
