I did -- when I was a child; however, the last time I played one was many years ago...
I had a bass guitar for a little while before 'economics' took it away from me.
That was years ago. I never returned to guitar playing after that...
( I was never really that good, anyway --- the world hasn't lost anything... )

I think I might could possibly take [ someone calling it 'cute' ( as per Sirk's remark ) ] as an insult --- as if, a white man's perspective is something that should never be given credence or taken seriously...

So to segway with that cuteness back to the question I posed earlier; any white male perspective on interracial dating; either for yourself personally or if you're all ready married, your perspective on it for your children?
Or even to the converse of it, say you are attracted to or interested in dating someone of your own race, but they have strong racial opinions that are quite different from your own. What does one think about this? How does one manage or handle that?
I was kinda joking and kinda not. The reality is that the race baiters do not think a white guy can speak about racism. Speaking about it is racist in their minds.
awhile back i moved to another job, this job as a tow truck driver. in this job i have dealt with many people. one thing that is clear blacks are the worst to deal with. whites,asians,arabs,indians, all have been respectful and glad I am there, blacks on the other hand not so much. only 2 have been respectful so far that is out of many.
last call i got was a black lady who locked keys in car. i get to the address within 10 minutes of her call. a lockout should only take about 5 minutes or so to do and that is will the paperwork included. well, I get there call the callback number. no answer right to voicemail. (typical) i go up knock on the door.. no answer (typical) knock again and finally a black male moves the towel that is hanging over the door window looks as me and drops the towel back down and walks off. no words no finger in the air to say 1 min. nothing just looks as me and walks off. I walk back to truck call dispatch to cancel this call, they tell me to hang and they will call.
finally the lady comes out. I have now been at this address 20 minutes. what is this lady like, well she as an attitude. as if to say how dare I bother her, how dare I not be on my knees kissing her feet. she gives me lip cause she has to sign paperwork, she gives lip cause I have to put the car vin# down on the paper work. since she wanted to waste my time and give lip I am at this job for 40 minutes, and thanks to her the tow i was set to do after i got done with that lockout ended up snipped by another company so because of her I lost out on a job that would have paid me $50 (im paid %) instead im stuck with just 10 cause that is what I get on a lockout instead of the 60 I would have made that hour.
and that is what I deal with from blacks 9 times out of 10, they are the only race to act like this. and it is cause of this type of behavior from blacks that makes others not want to deal with them, I know i do not want to deal with them. I cringe when a call comes in that is in a black area cause I know im going to have my time wasted and im going to lose money.

I have experienced this same sort of thing maybe a couple of hundred times. To me, usually "Black"=Attitude and Arrogance.
and then they wonder why people do not want to deal with them. why all the bushiness close in black areas ect ect. needless to say its their own fault.
I used to tell people, "I don't like n****s, no matter what color they are"..... because to me, "n****s" were simply trashy, low-life people, not a race, or ethnicity. (I never say that anymore, because people don't listen past the "n" word to understand what I'm saying)
I don't really care what color someone is. Or where they are from, as long as they are "good citizens"... which is difficult to define in words, but most people know what it means... Be courteous of other people (neighbors), be at least semi-friendly, don't trash up the neighborhood, etc....
I've been around whites that I would sell my house and move before having to live beside them, and I've known blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Indians, etc that I would gladly live next to, and interact with... because they are good people.
I've mentioned before that I work in a VERY ethnically diverse environment... and one of my absolute favorite people to work with was a guy who was a few years older than me, from Bangladesh.. a Muslim... but one of the most genuinely nice people I've had the pleasure of working with. Just good folks.....

I have a similar story.
When I was a child growing up, we used the word 'n****' to simply mean "a black person" -- and, there was no derogatory intent at all. Yet, at the same time, the "real" definition of the word 'n****' -- "knew no color" -- it described a person - white, black, or whatever - whose attitudes and actions demonstrated a blatant disregard and disrespect for - and / or - a lack of proper-and-reasonable consideration for ( same thing, right? ) - other people.
One of the reasons for this, I think, is that - [ some ] black people seemed to be in the common practice of calling other black people 'n****'.
Would it make sense for anyone to act extremely offended by the word ( used as a name, to insult someone ) - and then, turn-right-around and call someone the same name by the same word? That would only make them an 'extreme' hypocrite, would it not?
Yet, I have seen this many times.
Somewhere in my twenties, the innocence of childhood gave way to adult reasoning - and I stopped using the word 'n****' to describe "a black person" and started just simply saying "black man / woman / boy / girl / person" or "black folks" ( when specifically needed in conversation to indicate that they were black ) as that would be the common usage ( 'n****' is not ). The only time I say the word 'n****' anymore ( which is very rare ) is when making an explanation such as I have made here.
My story is the same with regard to your "good citizens" and "good people" statements.

I cannot tell you how many times I have been walking through a mall -- when, I come upon 3-6 black people walking side-by-side -- and, taking up the entire width of the walkway -- and, sauntering along at a very slow pace -- blocking the passage of people who would prefer to walk at a faster pace ( especially, if trying to reach a predetermined destination in a reasonable time ) -- in such a way that you could not pass them without it making you look rude. As far as I can tell, they do this to all people - white, black, and any other --- not just white people.
How many times have you had a car come right-up-behind-you on the highway -- and, then - when you let them pass you ( by pulling over into the 'slow' lane of a "temporary, extra" lane that comes up on the roadway ) - they slow "way down" so as to keep you from going the speed you intend?
How many times is it a black person driving that car?
This happened to me last week. Yep -- they were black.
Sometimes, it seems that [ some ] black people like to take every opportunity to do anything they can "against" a white person - for the sole purpose of annoying them...
How many of you find this to be very familiar?

Don't you think that - in a thread like this one - it is better to be "blatantly" serious or "blatantly" funny - but, not tread the thin line between the two? Don't you think that there is enough misunderstanding as it is...???

And, it goes right along with 'minority' groups having "special" days / events / organizations / etc. -- "in the name of, and for the cause of" their particular group.
But -- "Oh, no!" -- white people cannot do that!
( Not that white people, as a rule, even want to - interestingly - except to "make a point" to the other groups... )

Yes, usually. I am not going to lie that I am not prejudiced about many things, and black attitudes are just one of them.usually?okay.
I understand but also remember, you came up In a different generation and the way you think might be burned In by now, I think this younger generation Is becoming more accepting and understanding.

And, this is extremely unfortunate since - some of these "random" white people that they do this to just might be - at the right moment in time - the best friend they have in this world -- whereas, because they do this on such a large scale, those same white people would rather "steer clear" of them as much as possible -- and hence, they may not get the help they need in-time-of-need in some circumstance where that white person would have been "all they had" at the time to help them -- and, they will not even know about it until Judgment Day...
It is better to be kind to everyone you meet.

I certainly have high hopes that more-and-more people of all "races" can gain a better understanding of what "really is" - and "has been" - in this world ( the absolute majority of people do not ) -- and, stop "assuming" so much about things they do not understand - having gained a better understanding -- and, start realizing who their "real" enemies are ( Satan being the first and foremost ) - and, who are not.
It is not about skin color - it never has been ( to White Supremacists - yes; to most 'white' people - no ); a lot is being "wasted" because of all of this "assumption"...
But, understand this. In the issue of "blacks compared to everyone else", it is the blacks - as a "race" of people - that must put forth the "proof" that will ultimately raise the levels of 'trust' with regard to how other "races" view them. There is a reason why they are "looked down upon" so much by other peoples. It is a matter of 'culture' and 'attitude'. And, it is black people who must "raise the bar' if they want to be looked upon with more 'respect'...
Please do not misunderstand what I am saying here. It is a tragedy that so many innocent black people have been abused in the past. However, it is not only black people who have been abused. And, black people have done their "fair share" of abusing, too! The point being -- skin color is now removed from the equation, by virtue of the "equivalence" factor of abuse from all sides...
We should view "every man" ( man, woman, boy, girl ) for who they are - their character, personality, attitudes, etc. However, the whole "black race" issue is as a dark cloud on a rainy day. It will not be removed until the "black race" has put forth - "across-the-board" ( the 'race' as a whole ) - the "proof" that - as a 'race' of people - they are not the even-more-racist people that they are considered to be by others who have seen the completely unnecessary disregard of others who are not black...
In other words, when 'black' stops being the first-and-foremost 'cornerstone' of black thought as a 'race' of people - and, is replaced by "something higher" -- then, true change can occur.
Despite what many may think, as a rule - white people do not think like this. Only the "truly racist" White Supremacists place 'white' above all else. I am pretty sure that most 'white' people think in "higher terms" than this. They do not think of 'white' as being the "highest" thing of importance in the world - just for the sake of it. Most 'white' people simply try to be "who they are" ( as in individual ). And, in like manner, they figure other people should simply try to be "who they are" ( as in individual ).
Of course, it has been said that black people do not even regard their own 'race' with respect. In such a case, it still points back to 'culture' and 'attitude'. And, that is where the change must take place.
Don't be too quick to criticize the story I posted ( post #24 ); people like Bill Cosby have pleaded with the black 'race' to [ essentially ] do this very thing -- to stop focusing on the "negativity" of white-black 'race' relations of the past - and, to start focusing on the more "positive" - and more important - issue of 'black' reputation by virtue of honesty-put-forth on every level...
And, I suggest that - a true born-again Christian will have a better opportunity to be a part of the 'solution' rather than the 'problem' -- whatever the skin color...
So -- the best solution?
"Get 'em saved."
The Holy Spirit is more effective with things of the heart than any 'man-made' solution...
