The past two Sunday services have featured my Pastor discussing Sex. I laughed a little when I learned this was the topic.. I had been praying about sex and christianity on my ride into service that morning.

It's great to hear this being preached. I think it's essential. We hear so much about sex in the media, on tv and on the internet. My Pastor made a strong point that we the body of Christ need to be personally addressing these matters educationally. A church I attended for years plagued with Pastoral infidelity and Pastors getting divorced almost never held a sex sermon. You just can't overlook this facet of the christian life.

I and many Christians have had to venture out on our own to learn the Christian principles involved with it. Romance.. learn about it yourself... dating... good luck with that... oh and sex... no comment. I mean it needs to be addressed. I've spent numerous hours researching scripture and sex whether by reading online or in books.

My Pastor summarized our christian education of sex as "JUST DON'T DO IT".. saying we cannot simplifying such a subject. It's a massive part of life.. and our futures and this needs to be preached more often than giving money to the church in my view. We're taught about the importance of eating healthy, going to the dentist (we don't say it's okay do what you want, let your teeth rot) among other things but this is left up in the air.

I don't think it's something I want to hear sermons on, but it is definitely an extremely important component in a healthy marriage, so I do hope that couples who are considering marriage have very candid discussions regarding the matter. There's no relationship more intimate than marriage and you MUST be able to talk openly about such things. It's not a dirty subject. It's a precious subject.

For those who have never been married and are unfamiliar with the subject, I do think it would be a good idea to talk with christians of like gender to get answers to any questions you may have. It would be a good idea for accountability purposes as well.

Dr. Ruth Westheimer (world famous sex therapist) said that sex is the one thing you don't have to be good at to enjoy. With that in mind, there is really not much one has to know unless they never learned about the birds and the bees.

I have to admit it's a tough subject for me. I was married to a minister who divorced me almost four years ago and he remarried two months later. I am just not getting back into the dating seen and it is a nightmare. I don't know the boundaries....is it ok to kiss.....when a guy says he wants to be friends but kisses you passionately...what does that mean....then he backs up and says we need to keep it friends. This is just the initial dating part. I know the physical intimacy boundary and I'm good with that...unfortunately I haven't found any "Godly" men who understand this but maybe they do. I sure could use some help.
