First of all, I'm surprised Australian wasn't on the poll. I love Australian accents.

Yeah, if you think someone's from Down Under, ask them if they're from New Zealand. You won't offend them if they're Austrialian, but if you ask them if they're Austrialian and they're from New Zealand, you will offend them. I can't tell the difference between the two by the way that they say words like "text" and "yes." I took a course on English dialects when I was in university, so now if I hear a native speaker who's accent is distinctive I'll ask them where they grew up to see if I correctly pin pointed them. The weirdest is how I can hear my own accent and I can hear when a Canadian has a particularily thick accent. It usually means they grew up in a small town. I dated an Irish guy and he said he really liked my accent. I liked his accent too, but I only understood 80-90% of what he said. Sometimes he'd throw in some Irish in just to bug me. It was hard to pick out the Irish from the English with a thick Irish accent.

Oh, and I love the Liverpool accent. I can listen to Ringo Starr talk all day!
