Holiness is more important than happiness.
Seek God's righteousness and God's kingdom first.
That's true but most people when they marry don't want holiness. They want happiness, and then holiness comes after when they marry, I guess some people under the delusion that marrying will make them holy.

Churchgoer, your platitudes aren't helping anyone....

I think the OP needs some help in this area. She'd just broken up with a guy who assaulted her.
Maybe she is new in the faith. But she's also young (23) what advice are you going to give her.

Well, she moved out back to her mother so..? IDK

Are you going to judge them and insist they stay together when they can't even talk to each other except through lawyers? I don't think thats happy, or holy.

Not sure about their faith. But an unbeliever can depart, it says in the Bible. If they can't live together in peace, they aren't called to bondage.

Is that not Biblical when it actually says so in the Bible, an unbeliever can leave? Maybe she lost belief?
It is not about judgement. It is about Bible teaching. If anyone claim to be a Christian, start by obey Bible teaching.
Unbeliever leave and not coming back, that's abandonment.
Temporary separation is not abandonment.

It's not a temporary separation. They are divorcing. She aint' coming back.

Divorce lawyers already ... it will be judged in court. I am sure they will state their reasons at the court hearing or whatever you do when you divorce.

She left the car they shared (well his car) at the police station for him to pick up.

So...anyway. Sounded like they permanently separated if she can't even drive it to his place and leave it there. I don't know how far along they in their divorce but if they been apart for 2 years or more, thats grounds for divorce. In my country anyway.

I don't think she'll change her mind and then go back to him. I had a friend who separated from her husband (they had two sons) they were both Christians as far as I know, he was even a minister. Huge age gap, he'd already had daughter with his first wife, not sure what happened there. Anyway, they never got divorced but she never went back to him. He's now dead (of cancer) she's now living in emergency housing, I don't think she ever got anything out of their marriage even being a widow. Or his first wife.

So..yea I don't know..I only know her faith (she's a faithful churchgoer) I don't know about his faith, presumably Christian too him being a minister and all. But maybe they had different kinds of faith. Actually he must have divorced from his first wife to marry her, I haven't asked. I know she had a ring, she said she took if off when he dumped her. I asked her, well what about your honeymoon. She said he didn't even like her at the honeymoon.

So IDK. I can't judge that one either. Was it biblical?

OP this marriage had a huge age gap. She married in her 30s and he was in his 50s I think. His daughter from the first marriage was already adult by the time he remarried, that much I know. The first wife was at the funeral as well as the second. I don't know if she the second wife was the cause of the first marriage breakup. It can't have been, they were Christians? They had TWO sons.

Anyway. The sons are now grown up. One has her grandaughter, that couple didn't marry and they've split up. The granddaughter is now 4 years old. So... I don't know what that says about their faith (or lack of)

I guess I'm saying...christian marriages don't always work out. But I'm wondering..you might start out all in church and everything, but things can go sour. Maybe it's just luck of the draw.

Its all a gamble!!! Tough luck to those who lose. You didn't play your cards right. Or they bluffed and you got taken in. IDK.

I hear you.
At the end of day, Jesus never promise us a happy smooth life. However in general if we follow Bible teaching, we have the peace in our heart. God will pull us through.

My attitude is whatever under my control, I do my best to follow Bible teaching, live a pure and holy life.

Whatever is out of my control, don't worry about it. It is in God's control. Worrying will not help anyway.

Relax and trust in the Lord.

I hope so

The Serenity prayer helps a lot of people (even if they not christians) when we ask God to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can... and the wisdom to know the difference.

Yes, accept God's plan.
Yes, be strong and courageous to follow God's commands.

I am about 1 month here. How to find people age, unless they are showing it? :)

It's usually impossible if they don't choose to have it listed in their profiles here.

However, in the live chat rooms, if you click on someone's name (which gives an abbreviated profile box,) it gives the person's age, even if they have it it hidden in their regular forum profile.

I do know of one user who has found a way to over ride this (he conceals his age both here in the forums and in his chat box,) but when asked, he did not share how it was done.

Welcome to the site!

Let us know if you have more questions. :)

Thank you so much. Lord willing when the time comes, I will get membership and have fun in live chat.

I could be wrong, but as it stands right now, I don't think you have to pay to be part of the live chats. You do have to have a membership to start a chat room (and without a regular monthly subscription fee, any user-created room will disappear in a day or two.)

But to participate in the chats, you should be able to use this link:

It will bring you to the login page where you just use your regular user name and password like you do for the forums.

It will then either put you into a chat room, or give you a list of rooms to choose. People usually go to the one with the most people, but the choice is yours!

Feel free to check them all out.

Hope this helps. :)

Thank you sister. Seems not working for me. Possible need membership.
I will just regular chat for now.

I was able to chat or think I did when you were having those chat meetup things. Although it was kind of hard chatting with 10 others in one room in real time.

Can you actually chat one on one with peeps here? I never tried it. I only chat with people I already know on whatsapp. But actually its a bit easier just to call them on it if want a convo and both not busy.

Years ago I used to message people on msn messenger, that I met online, but that's all gone now. I never chatted for the sake of meeting someone, it was always I had something in common with them and we'd just chat about life.

To 'chat someone up' in my country basically means to hit on them. I don't do that with randoms. And if someone was married, I let the wife know I was talking to their husband. lol

Miss the chat meetup thingies. Noticed a while back they weren't happening anymore after I forgot they were. Lol Will have to check in again ever(every?) so often.

As for age differences, had a 20 year old bugging me on facebook for a time in my late 30's. "So what are we going to do about this?" was a regular question. 🙄 He was in the UK and I wasn't interested. One of many reasons I escaped social media.

Happy forums like this still exist. Much easier to deal with and take the time to get to know others.

I don't know if it will make a difference if you're on a laptop or phone...

I'm usually on my laptop.

I don't know if you need to use a different link for the phone, but on the front page (at least on my Android, not sure if it's different for the iPhone,) there is a section called CHRISTIAN CHAT APP.

Under that, there's a title, "Christian Chat app for Windows/Mac/Android/iOS", and under that, "Link for the Christian Chat App."

You should be able to click on that and find it.

Hope this helps!
