So I came across a guy that said that if you want to cast out demons you have to forsake your flesh. That makes sense as that's biblical but he thinks a lot of things are sins.

None of that seems biblical to me. What do you guys think?

Avoid that guy. Read the bible and get in a good bible teaching fellowship.

Fine tune your conscience through a study and application of the word....let God do the convicting and or enlightening when it comes to sin....

All things are lawful though all tings are not expedient.........<-Paul, and I am fairly confident that he knew and knows way more than the guy described in your OP

Whatever that’s not of faith Is sin, meaning If you feel that It’s wrong In YOUR heart, then It Is sin to you but nevertheless I’m not talking about salvation because once you are saved you have been born of Incorruptible seed and sin Is not the Issue, faith Is.

That's what I thought. The things that were ambiguous were left for you to decide. I know that I don't want to see Fifty Shades of Gray but it seems like the movie Lion King would be ok.

It isn't sin:

 • "And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?" (Mark 7.18,19).
 • "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh." (Col 2.16-23).
 • "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer." (1Tim 4.1-5).

However, we ought to care about the body, seeing that it is the instrument by which Jesus manifest Himself through us:

 • "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" (1Cor 3.16).

"worldly music games movies TV and videos" (noticed he didn't mention books and I have read some pretty races books back in the day)

About this, we ought to follow what Paul said:

 • "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Phil 4.8).
 • "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1Thess 5.23).

After all:

 • "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." (Isaiah 26.3).

Let God purify you, you can not purify yourself. And yes, I think as someone said earlier, whatever you think is a sin, it would be a sin for you to do it, because you have gone against your self (there is a bible passage for this) He is also focused on gifting, That can be dangerous in and of itself. The HS gifts us as he sees fit. Casting out demons does not make you a super christian, Not casting out demons does nto make you a lost soul.

Take heed to the truth that has been given to you!

Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. Matthew 21:22 NIV

It's sin:

 • "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." (Matthew 5.27-28).

"worldly friends"

It depends on what are happening in this meetings:

 • "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful." (Psalms 1.1).
 • "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship; hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." (2Cor 6.14-18).
 • "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." (2Tim 2.22).
 • "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears." (Heb 12.14-17).

"Re: Ambiguous sins

"stay away from the teachings of anyone who doesn't cast out demons"

Nonsense:

 • "And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us." (Luke 9.49,50).

You would be incorrect in using this passage to promote the casting out of demons as a Christian endeavor. Jesus is teaching against sectarianism but not advocating dabbling in the occult.

I think I'm not going to waste a lot of time figuring out if I can cast out demons.
1. I can't. (God can. I can't.)
2. I'm supposed to be focusing on the Lord, not demons.
3. Strikes me that if God needs me to cast out a demon, then he'll equip me to do just that.

And not really big into some guy coming up with the short-list* to avoid the real sin**.

Recommendation, don't listen much to that guy.

* short-list - the things we create as sin to point our fingers at others, because we don't do that particular sin. That way we look good without being good.

Example of my short-list:
-- Don't rob banks. (Truthfully, I don't rob banks because it's not in me to rob a bank, and, even if it was, I'm too chicken to rob one.)
-- Don't visit porn sites. (Always thought those pictures were disgusting, so ewwww. :o)
-- Don't skydive. (Again, too chicken to skydive, so not a big problem. lol)

** Real sin. Romans 1:29-31

IMO, you need to steer clear of this guy, cause he totally missed the essentials.

Every ministry is determined by your relationship with Jesus Christ.

No relationship, no ministry.

Your relationship will require staying pure & holy, & that will include staying away from some things.

Relationship is FIRST. Anything else is a distant second. Those with the right relationship will know, for God will reveal it to them.
