America is not a Christian nation.

[Scotth1960]

"America is not a Christian nation, as the religious right and many Republicans would have it, intended by its founders to be governed by Christian principles or, more radically, biblical law."

that's what the documents surrounding the Treaty of Triploi; and the Supreme Court; Native American Treaties; and all the recent presidential proclamations say.

surprise!

It's not. It's a nation founded UNDER GOD, which EVERY nation is under God. It doesn't mean our official or unofficial religion is Christian. If it was so, we wouldn't have our freedom of religion, something Americans pride ourselves on. First Amendment rights.

[Megatron]

I fail to see how this deserves a thread...it's not our fault some people are dumb enough to believe the US was some new nation of God when it was made. I've never seen anything that ever even gave me that idea, so I dont know how others got it.

Since when did Scotty need a good reason to start a thread?

better fight for it, cause it's almost gone.

take a gander at the totalitarian tip-toe that happened when y'all weren't looking:

SUPER CONGRESS [translate AUTONOMOUS COUNCIL, soviet model]

A "super-Congress" is being proposed by Senate leaders Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell. The left-wing Huffington Post summarizes the plan — which they claim is also supported by Republican House Speaker John Boehner — this way:

"Legislation approved by the Super Congress — which some on Capitol Hill are calling the 'super committee' — would then be fast-tracked through both chambers, where it couldn't be amended by simple, regular lawmakers, who'd have the ability only to cast an up or down vote. With the weight of both leaderships behind it, a product originated by the Super Congress would have a strong chance of moving through the little Congress and quickly becoming law."

If you understood how our government worked, you wouldn't say anything. It's a bi-partisan committee, meaning members of both parties have to make decisions and vote. It's a small scale of what the REAL congress is. They have committees for EVERYTHING in congress, this is just another new committee for the debt.

i guess they've had to use mind control whenever possible since y'all still have those pesky firearms (for now).

FASCI

Fascio (plural: fasci) is an Italian word literally meaning "a bundle" or "a sheaf",[1] and figuratively league, and which was used in the late 19th century to refer to political groups of many different (and sometimes opposing) orientations. A number of nationalist fasci later evolved into the 20th century movement known as fascism.

see the fasci on their stamp?

"Let us never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories concerning the attacks of September the 11th - malicious lies that attempt to shift the blame away from the terrorists themselves, away from the guilty." - Former U.S. President George W. Bush at the United Nations.

"I'm aware that there's still some who would question or even justify the offense of 9/11. But let us be clear. Al Qaida killed nearly 3,000 people on that day. The victims were innocent men, women, and children from America and many other nations who had done nothing to harm anybody. And yet Al Qaida chose to ruthlessly murder these people, claimed credit for the attack, and even now states their determination to kill on a massive scale. They have affiliates in many countries and are trying to expand their reach. These are not opinions to be debated. These are facts to be dealt with." - U.S. President Barack H. Obama at Cairo University.
