Exactly. Of course it is wrong.
The Qu'ran has the command 'Thou shalt not kill'.
It has hyperbole in it the same as the bible ie 'cut off your right hand'.
That doesn't mean you LITERALLY go out and cut off your hand.
Neither does it mean you go and 'stone people to death'.
Stones are symbolic of punishment and judgement.
But there will always be people who are very bad at interpreting the MEANING of the words and will use it to their own ends.
The Qu'ran says 'Oh mankind, Allah created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other, not that ye may despise each other.'
The bible says 'Love thy neighbour'.
The Qu'ran also says '"Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loves not transgressors. And slay them wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter... But if they cease, God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful... If they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression"
It means that when someone attacks you, you defend yourself. It also means 'do not transgress limits'. The limit of such would be to show mercy and only to apply such force as necessary. 'Turn them out from where they turned you out', gives meaning to the verse also. Do not use excessive force. Only that which is necessary.
To be fair, their country has been invaded and taken over by people who are destroying their religion.
But many Muslims realise that the burning of a Qu'ran does not constitute murder. It is not 'necessary force'.
I for one sympathise at times with the Muslim community. There are the few who give them all a bad name.
'Jihad' simply means 'to exert more effort', usually if not always in the context for helping a situation.
The very, very loast resort is murder and many clued in muslims read the passages about murder being the worst sin after blasphemy against Allah.
It IS supposed to be a religion of tolerance, mercy and peace, but as we have seen, fundamentalism can strike even such a teaching.
We've seen it in Buddhism and Islam and Christianity.
When all three actually teach to live in harmony with each other.
NONE of these religions teach that it is better to force others to believe what we believe. Yet both 'sides' are putting this before the teaching of love.
LOVE comes first in all these religions.
But sadly judgement seems to be what everyone wants to do instead.
....anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people. (5:32)
"You shall not kill any person - for God has made life sacred - except in the course of justice. If one is killed unjustly, then we give his heir authority to enforce justice. Thus, he shall not exceed the limits in avenging the murder, he will be helped."(17:33)
These Qu'ran verses are reiterated firstly in our ten commandments, and secondly when God lists the detestable things; one being the murder of innocents.
You may not have any respect for Islam in it's true form, but I do.
Some of the people who blaspheme it with murder and hate are not in my good book. But they are wayward and convicted. And it is hate that of others and hate for others that has send them on this path. Again, I do not detest them. I only pity them.
