No. Because Peter is telling us not to be impatient, A 1000 days is like a day. He is not telling us to interpret prophesy this way.
well we agree

so Peters passage does not create a one-day-equals-one-thousand-years principle.
John is telling us literal events which will take place in the future (which means it did not start with the death of Christ) but after many events happen.
right. he is.
but he is using symbolic language to do it.
throughout.
agree
he actually goes back to the birth of Christ (and through OT imagery even further back in some places)...ex: Ezekiel.
lol. Many OT prophesies were this way. It was prophesied that Judah would be overrun by Babylon and the city and temple would be destroyed. It literally happened.
yes...thats right.
does God use any symbolic language in those prophecies...well...ya.

we could post them and compare.
Prophesy is prophesy God says A will happen in B years. We can rest assured, these things will literally take place. If they do not. God can not prophesy, All we can do is say God guesses, and makes his prophesies come true by forcing the fulfiment to fit his plan.
but He doesnt always say the exact number of years.
even when he does we dont appear to believe Him.
Gabriel told Daniel 490 years....70 weeks.
but we dont believe Him.
we allegorized that to mean 2490 years and counting....cuz we needed a gap.
so when we assert He meant an unknown period of time and NOT 490 years....we are really saying He doesnt always mean what He says.
its nuts.
2 Chronicles 24
19Yet He sent prophets to them to bring them back to the LORD; though they testified against them, they would not listen. 20Then the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people and said to them, "Thus God has said, 'Why do you transgress the commandments of the LORD and do not prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He has also forsaken you.'" 21So they conspired against him and at the command of the king they stoned him to death in the court of the house of the LORD.
Luke 11
50so that the blood of all
the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation, 51from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against
this generation.' 52"Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering."
and here we take one prophecy we know was fulfilled....and Jesus mentions it...and lays the charge (of the death and harm to ALL THE PROPHETS - Abel included apparently) at the feet of
that very generation He was grappling with....and we allegorize it to mean a Mystical Apostate World Political Church thing in our day or yet future to us.
No. I KNOW revelation uses symbolic imagery to describe literal events. It is the NT version of daniel. who also used the same type of imagery.
well in one way...but Daniels prophecies are finished...his prophecies were literally fulfilled (not in his lifetime...but in the lifetime of Jesus through to the end of National Israel and the Old Covenant)
John picked up where Daniel left off.
Remember, The first beast represented babylon. Yet as we are told. More literally, the first beast represented Nebuchadnezzar. Revelation uses the same symbology to represent literal events and people.
right....well...the first king was that head of Gold...that kingdom.
Revelation picks up during Christ`s lifetime...the beasts of Daniel are alluded to but very little....with the exception of the Roman beast...which is the beast in place....on which the Harlot (Jerusalem) was seated.
she was Mystery Babylon the Great Harlot.
lol.. No, your trying to add things into it. And in doing so mocking it. In your own type of interpretation. Nebachednezzar was a head of a statue, who was made of Gold.
um....i know.

that was the kingdom Daniel was in captivity under.
the captives were freed from Babylon.
Dan 2:
[SUP]38 [/SUP]and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.
No more than Nebachadnezzar was a literal head of Gold
okay....so we know symbolic imagery is used to represent real things.
now we just have to determine what those real things are and were.
the Iron beast that breaketh everything and trampled everybody was Imperial Rome...right.
which is when Jesus was born.
The day of the lord is not the end of the 1000 years. Thus your twist and explanation makes no sense.
well....how do the 1,000 years end then.
Do you have any other bright ideas?
maybe
By the way, Do you know who the Bronze part of the statue in Nebachadnezzar's dream represented? Was he actually literally part of the statue?
hehehe...no, not literally.
you mean brass....bronze: whatever.
that was Greece - namely Alexander the Great
wasnt it
he is said to be
a goat with horns and stuff too
...though he was a man.
so we know we have symbols to interpret....its not always easy but it can be done.
