An interesting point............ that many of us tend to overlook.

These words began some study I was recently doing, and it kind of opened my eyes:

"It is important to remember that Judaism is not Old Testament religion, but rather a rejection of the Biblical faith altogether, in favor of the Pharisaical, Talmudic heresy.

Like Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, the Unification Church, and other cults, it claims to be based on the Bible; but its actual authority comes from the traditions of men. Jesus was quite clear: Judaism denies Christ because it denies Moses.

Orthodox Christianity alone is the true continuation and fulfillment of Old Testament religion (see Matt. 5:17-20; 15:1-9; Mark 7:1-13; Luke 16:29-31; John 5:45-47; 8:42-47). "

Yeah, that's one way of looking at it. But I think Caiaphas and the high priests played large role in leading the Jews astray--even the faithful Jews. It seems to me that Caiaphas and his fellow Jewish leaders did this because they were concerned with maintaining the Temple commerce. They viewed Jesus as a threat to their livelihood rather than the Messiah.


It is telling that even after Christ was crucified and it was clear to all that he was divine, the chief priests bribed the Roman guards to say that Jesus' body was stolen. They witnessed what happened when Jesus was crucified. They knew he had risen. They knew Jesus was the Messiah. And yet they bribed the Roman guards to protect their positions within the Temple. Caiaphas set the Jewish people on the wrong path. We are fortunate as Christians that some of the Jews knew Jesus and felt it was more important to follow God than to follow Caiaphas. /jmho
