even though we're married we're free birds. when i'm out with friends, she's out with her friends. no shortage of a good time to be had anywhere around here.

yes, same friends, but each of us have friends before we got married. so it's 3 groups of friends. we each have met each other's friends. actually, i'm not out with my friends much anymore because they like to drink alcohol & i don't drink alcohol anymore. i don't care for the local bands, they are not so good.

I don't know how far the woke have progressed in New zealand, but in the United States they have been badgering people to stop calling homeless people homeless and start calling homeless people unhoused. It doesn't help homeless people at all, but it gives the woke people something they can berate people for, so they can feel really good and proud about themselves.
If you ever run into somebody insisting you call homeless people unhoused, look at him funny and say, if you really cared about homeless people you would call them nomads. That has way more dignity than unhoused. Rock on, my nomad brother!

Woke is just another name for 'politically correct' and we hate stuff like that. We prefer 'politically wrong' lol

Nomads is what ...hipsters who want to be cool call themselves. And people used to hate on hipsters for being wanna be cool like they are rich people pretending to be poor.
Also nomads were the name for a shoe that was popular back in the 80s, but by the time the 90s rolled around they were decidedly uncool.
In the 90s everyone was wearing Docs.
They were very cool back in the day even thought the boots were an absolute pain to tie the laces.
Now everyone just wears crocs, or imitation crocs because who wanna pay $60 when you can pay $8 for the same foam rubber thing.
Also nomads were the name for a shoe that was popular back in the 80s, but by the time the 90s rolled around they were decidedly uncool.

I never see them anymore, they are real leather with a sort of rubber sticky sole. They looked like they were hand stitched together. They were as ugly as uggs, but super comfortable.
I didn't wear them, but I did wear Commandoes.
Commandoes were not boots but were canvas shoes that had a wide sole. They were kind of like lace up keds,
Anyway. If I ever called someone a nomad, which I don't, it would remind me of the above shoes.
They'd need to be wearing those to qualify.
Otherwise they just gypsys or hipsters with a van or trailer/camper trying to be cool. Have you seen the movie Nomads. It was people who prefer living in their cars. At least they had wheels, many homies can't even afford a car.
But really, humans just like to insult peeps when calling them names that they hadn't thought of themselves. I only call people what they wish to be called/known as. I don't make up names for them like that just to be mean.
George Orwell wrote about that. Ever read his book 1984? He called it doublethink and despised people who wrote 'un' whatever. Like if you were serious, you were 'unfunny' or if you were sad you were 'unhappy' and if you were I don't know, poor your were 'unrich'

I read that book. As I recall the objective was to restrict people's thinking, because if you take away words then people cannot express their thoughts in words. So the main goal was to take out as many words as you reasonably can.
Yes and they were cutting and pasting history, so it was full of gaps, they were editing and making it up as they went along.
That kind of thing happens all the time.
I would read the dictionary because its fascinating how words change over time. I'd go for the Collins, because if you try an online dictionary it would only tell you words that had meaning after internet became popular, which was around 1996. That's when we (my household) first got it anyway. Prior to that we were scanning in every document/manuscript into computers/digital so we could have a record of it.
Also I think copyright is 50 years from date of publication, which is attributed to the author of the work. (and all royalties go to them) After that it's in the public domain and anyone can copy it and use it.
I may sound like I know a lot, but it's only because I read alot. I mean I go through at least 3 books a week, depending on how long they are. Reading really does expand your vocabulary.
My cousins ex wife came over from NY to visit. It was nice seeing her again after maybe a decade.
Her son is now 26 and she says he still lives with her in their apartment in Manhattan. He found a job in New Jersey and had a 2 hour commute, but then he had a car and got it down to 1 hour.
She says he can't afford his own place yet.
She says I must come over to visit some time and she will put me up in her place. And now she's retired, she has time to show me around. Fingers crossed!!
I'll need to save for the airfare though, and go when its not too cold.
