I remember when gas was only $00.10 a gallon!!!!! Milk was $00.40 a gallonI remember gas at $0.29 and/or $0.39 cents a gallon
I do not recall the cost of milk, but I do remember that we had it delivered, and had a milk box, and
tokens that hung from the lip of the bottle... us kids played general store through the milk box LOL.
We also had bread delivered; for a family of 13, that was usually about twenty loaves a week, and
sometimes we would run out and have to be sent to the corner store for more. A loaf of bread back
then was about twenty cents. Now I buy ciabatta buns, 10 for about $7.49, depending on the store...
Was your butter in a bag with a little red dye dot that you worked into the product to add colour? .
Ugh, okay, so that was actually margarine. We had butter, margarine, and my mother also baked with lard.
Until she started using Crisco.
