Hi isaacsdad,
I am in a deliverence ministry though it has only been for about 6 months. The spirits and demonic realm is real. The incubi may come in the form of dreams, fantasies and nightmares - the origin is from the demonic realm. These spirits usually come in dreams but I have read of actual physical manifestation and attacks also. A wet dream is an example that is common. Dreams where people are immobilized or being squeezed may come from "incubus" and "sucubus". The issue is that Christians can leave doors open to the demonic realm. In this case these spirits do not have access to possess a person but they can attach to a person and wreak chaos, cause confusion, and destroy. Open doors may be through music or pornography or other lifestyles that are done against God's will, they may come from objects such as dreamcatchers or other seemingly harmless items. -To one who is seeking God first, your covered by being submitted to Jesus. Yet we are in a daily battle that requires the renewing of our minds. The spirits can come in many different forms and often are labelled by what they try to do. There are spirits for almost everything. Religious spirit, witchcraft, black and white magic spell, lying spirit, spirit of rebellion, spirit of whoredom (this may be the same as incubus ) and a great many others.
We have been granted all authority over spirits and demons by Jesus. Many people do not believe that assaults from the demonic realm can come upon Christians but my experience is that they can. Spirit of depression, spirit of anger, spirit of unforgiveness, spirit of bondage, prideful spirit and the spirit of infirmity are but a few. These are afflictions that originate from the spiritual realm and certainly experienced in Christianity. There are too many Christians living in bondage to the enemy and his tactics today. Some Christians prefer to just see these as a result of Man's fallen nature. Yes. But satan and his demons are actively seeking those that they can to kill, steal and destroy.
I am not an expert on demons and spirits-i.e. is it a fallen angel or is it a demon or is it the strongman or spirit of python. I am equipped by the word of God to defeat all the fiery darts of the enemy and all attacks. The word "Blessing" occurs over 410 times and the word "curse" about 230 times (different bible versions change the number a bit). So I believe strongly in twice as much emphasis on God's word and the power of Jesus than on the enemy.
In one deliverence there was a person who was a confessing Christian yet this person manifested as a possessed person as seen in physical contortions and by what that person said and would not say. This person would not repeat 'Jesus' and also spoke in a language that was not their heavenly language. This person attended church regularly and read the Bible routinely.
The good news is Jesus and the awesome power in the blood of Jesus. The scriptures, prayer and fasting and being immersed in the word, praise and worship will deliver and lead to deliverance.
Deliverance does not require ministers or deacons. It comes by God's Word. He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. -psalms 107:20.
If there is someone that is close to you that is being afflicted you must repent of your sin, and live righteously (close all doors). You can pray with that person and/or for that person to be delivered. There are prayers of spiritual warfare that you can find on the internet. They must be scripture based of course. Use John 14:14, Galatians 5:1, 2 Corinthians 10:4, psalms 91, Mathew 16:18,19, Luke 13:15-16, Matthew 12:29, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 10:18-20, Ephesians 1:19-23, Ephesians 6:10-20, 1 John 4:4.
Study the Ministry of Jesus for you have been granted ALL authority in Christ ! Knowing God's word is the greatest gift of all.
Acts 1:8 states that you shall receive power from the Holy Spirit and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. The very act of witnessing includes the power to trample over the enemy. Jesus changes lives, delivers, heals and transforms ! Praise God !
Shalom !
