I became a Christian two weeks ago. It was amazing. I started to feel God's presence in my life. And I started to make the effort to live for Him and obey Him. Still messed up sometimes but it was working out. Then two days ago the feelings started to dim. Woke up today and I was almost indifferent to the things of God. I know there are times when God hides himself from people to test their faith. "Winters of the heart" and so on but its only been two weeks. Why? I wish I could feel Him.
 
Christ tells us that when we seek, we shall find. When you woke up today were you praising God for His wonderful mercies? I would try having a heart of praise and thanksgiving for the new man that you are. Do not be discouraged. Your life is now a battle ground for you are a member of God's family and all the evils of this world now consider you their enemy. Keep fighting the good fight and keep searching the Word of God for His promises. I will pray for you brother!
 
Thank you. I figured that maybe I wasn't trying my hardest to right by Him. So now I'm picking me up and trying again. I'll trust Him even if I don't feel Him.

Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

That is why it is called FAITH

We recognise HIS reality regardless of how we feel.

God does not keep us away from the hard times.

He is there to help us through them.
 
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 1 John 3:20-21

This is a verse that I remind my self if I ever am in doubt.

You sound like me many years ago when I first became a Christian.

Firtstly Glenwood is right, you must not go by your feelings. You have to live by faith, and that is opposite to feelings. Feelings change according to the weather, season, diet, etc. Now that doesn't mean you have to have faith to move a mountain, but just I would suggest to trust Jesus that he is watching over you and will keep you

You will have your ups and downs, but I found it was taking our eyes off ourselves more and more and looking to Jesus that helped me

Now I don't want to bombard you with things here, but your own natural effort won't keep you with God. It says that in the Bible. You need to rely and trust in Jesus and not your own effort.

And also I would ask someone to talk to you about the Holy Spirit. That is imperitive. I will pray for you.

Thank you all so much. Its a struggle to get over myself and focus on God but with His grace I will. Thanks again.
