As I find myself just coming out of Hebrews, God has thrown me into Luke where He keeps touching my soul. Well,far be it for me to clog up the spiritual drain pipe....let me flush my heart with (Luke 22:28), so I can move to His next transforming thought in my life. Smile. Oh what transforming power God's Word possesses!
God has been, this week, working on my perspective in my life, wait check that, He has always been working on that, now that I think about it...... It is true that Jesus Christ is with me thru my temptations, (here's where God is working now) but am I going on with Him thru His temptations?
Many of us turn back from going on with Jesus from the very moment we have an experience of what He can do. Watch when God changes your circumstances to see whether you are going on with Jesus, or siding with the world, the flesh, and the devil. I have gone thru hard times lately and God has brought great victory in those circumstances. Yet, feeling a bit arrived, I wasn't expecting my current circumstances to be more "blessing-oriented". I was beginning to plot out His victories for me, of course with him along side
But God is re- teaching me, yet again, No "Slave"-- my way!, for my way is the best way, and ultimately it will be that blessed life...you just can't envision it yet.. We wear His name ,but the question becomes, are we going on with Him? "From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more." (John 6:66).
The temptations of Jesus continued thru-out His earthly life, and they will continue thru-out the life of the Son of God in us. Are we going on with Jesus in the life we are living right now?
We have the idea that we ought to shield ourselves from some of the things God brings around us. Having surrendered this myself ...let it never be! It is God who engineers our circumstances, and whatever they may be we must see that we face them while continually abiding with Him in His temptations. I have to remind myself, they are His temptations, not temptations to us [or me], but temptations to the life of the Son of God in us. Jesus Christ's honor is at stake in our bodily lives. Are we remaining faithful to the Son of God in Everything that attacks His life in us? As I was wallowing in Gods big victories over here, I was unaware of some other subtle issues over there. Satan's backdoor trick.
But God has pointed it out! I am going on with Jesus! Are you going on with Jesus? The way goes thru Gethsemane, thru the city gate, and on "outside the camp" [Hebrews 13:13]. The way is lonely and goes on until there is no longer even a trace of a footprint to follow--but only the voice saying, "Follow Me." (Matt. 4:19). I asked God to grow me up October 2014, and since then ...Wow! How He has answered that prayer! I'm tempted to say.. "Be careful for what you pray for,!" yet I wouldn't change a thing, Not a thing! God has blessed me richly. And will never stop filling the cup as it empties.
"You are those who have continued with Me in My trials." (Luke 22:28).
