Are you in condition to inherit what Jesus conquered for you?
• Pro 19:10 -> “It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for a slave to rule over princes.”.
• Pro 30:21,22 -> “Under three things the earth trembles; under four it cannot bear up: a slave when he becomes king, and a fool when he is filled with food;”.
• Ecc 10:5-7 -> “There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, as it were an error proceeding from the ruler: folly is set in many high places, and the rich sit in a low place. I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking on the ground like slaves.”.
It comes the question: Why?
When the fool receives great provision, their proclivity is to dally on bad deportment, which stoles their heart, making them selfish and heartless:
• Hosea 4:11 -> “whoredom, wine, and new wine, which take away the understanding.”.
• Amo 6:3-6 -> “O you who put far away the day of disaster and bring near the seat of violence? “Woe to those who lie on beds of ivory and stretch themselves out on their couches, and eat lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the stall, who sing idle songs to the sound of the harp and like David invent for themselves instruments of music, who drink wine in bowls and anoint themselves with the finest oils, but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph!”.
It isn’t in vain that the Holy Scripture says:
• Ecc 7:2,3 -> “It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, for by sadness of face the heart is made glad.”.
And it there are some invitations to lament and cry:
• Joe 2:12,13 -> “ “Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.”.
• Joe 1:13,14 -> “Put on sackcloth and lament, O priests; wail, O ministers of the altar. Go in, pass the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God! Because grain offering and drink offering are withheld from the house of your God. Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.”.
• Jas 4:9 -> “Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.”.
• Lev 23:27 -> “Now on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present a food offering to the LORD.”.
So, have a good day finding relish in Jesus’ presence (Hab 3:19; Ps 37:4; Phil 4:4; Micah 7:7), and not in the transitory things of this world.
