The original 'negative nellie' or rather bully to Laura Ingalls Wilder. Apparently there was famous scene in the tv series where she got pushed into a leech infested lake. (this happened in the books too)
In the books, she teased and tortured Laura because Nellie was a jealous snob who wanted to steal Lauras boyfriend. Nellie was a townie with the latest frocks and Lauras family had to make everything from scratch.
When townies or city folk go live in the country, which doesnt have all the city comforts they are used to, boy, do they complain!
but then I think the same may be true of country folk who go live inthe city, being fish out of water, they start complaining about the traffic, noise etc, all the while oblivious as to how they themselves are contributing to it! lol
