Many people need to change the way they think about salvation. Going to church or merely confessing that Jesus is Lord does not equal salvation. One has to accept Jesus and Lord from His heart. Only those who are saved can do the will of God.

"For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."~Matthew 12:50

Churchgoers today are no more automatically saved than those who ate with Jesus in the past (as is often noted, attending a church no more makes one a Christian than entering a garage makes one a car). Not those who claim to "know" Jesus but only those who do the Father's will have any claim on Jesus.

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."~Matthew 7:21

I hear people saying these things all the time and although I agree with the statement, I feel it's beginning to be a bit cliche. If a person wants to truly serve God, great. However if they're stubborn or don't desire it then no amount of lecturing will make them. I feel it's also important that instead of just pointing out the difference between being a "Christian" and being a real disciple, we need to help people to actually be disciples.

Good point on OP. Many people are merely professing Christianity, talking the talk and not walking the walk. This was also spoken of in Matthew Chapter 7.
