I don't know still if it's going to happen the polls for Alberta are only 36% for leaving. For the most part Alberta does seem to lean Conservative but as with Texas(I'm a Texan) we have capped wells everywhere and the permits for new wells have been dropping for years.
It will be a uphill battle for sure and theirs to have. If I recall correctly the numbers I heard the other night is they are now at 37% so 36 or 37%, still a ways to go. However, that is up from I believe 24% and the referendum is in Aug of next year so the different groups wanting for folks to vote yes believe that they will have the numbers come time to make it count. Time will tell.

I am on the other side of oil I am a trader and investor and oil is the single largest industry I hold. Invested in all aspects, upstream, midstream, and downstream. Holding the biggies as well as independents and LLP's. So I am a drill baby drill person. Alberta as a state or even their own independent nation I find would be a good thing. We already buy like 90% of their heavy sour since we have the refineries for that.

So will be their fight to have but I sure can stand behind the grievance's they have with Ottawa and the greens up there trying to end their way of life and their livelihood.

And end of his term it would be if he brings 40 million Canadians into the voting process of the US who vote Liberal/Democrat. That would be one lopsided Democrat win in the next election. Probably best to think through how they vote before he floods the registered US voters with 40 million extra Democratic Canadian voters in that brand new US state he keeps talking about.
Yes but Trump is a patriot.
He would sacrifice his political party for a greater America.

Heavy crude is the key word when it come to crude oil with most of the US crude being light crude and not heavy like Alberta's oil sands so Alberta's oil don't really need the drill baby drill part. And your right most all Texas refineries are set up to refine heavy crude and not light crude, Texas City refineries and Port Author that is which is why the US oil companies are not drilling many new wells(wrong type crude oil in the US) . And yes most oil imports already come from Alberta into the US from those oil sands so not sure it would make it cheaper if it was US soil. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/27/business/energy-environment/oil-trump-drill-baby-drill.html

Yep he's a Patriot alright but when it comes to 40 million liberals from Canada becoming legal US state voters maybe we should draw a circle and get him to stand in it while we explain the reality of embracing 40 million extra liberal voters voting in 2028,lol.

Apologies my brother the way I wrote that it does read like I am looking at their production costs becoming lower. I am leaning towards it would be a step forwards to dominance. I have to admit I have no clue what the production cost is for a barrel up in Canada. So have no clue how it would effect price for up there.

Yeah I am hoping with the Trump admin's latest move to get involved in rare earth metals mining to secure some of our independence. Last week the admin made a $700 million commitment and partnership with MP materials. They invested $400 million in their preferred stock. Gave them as well a $150 million loan so far. Apple then made a $500 million deal with MP to secure a pipeline.

So my hope is maybe the admin may have bigger goals of independence and get involved in a partnership for building some light sweet refineries. I have read the arguments against our companies building any, with cost and the political environment depending on who holds office as objections against.

So while I have not heard any move towards the admin doing so I am hoping that the latest move by the admin towards rare earth metals may have them in some backroom considering such a move for refineries for light to just give us greater dominance and independence in energy.

As well as the Thatcher Pass lithium mine will come on line next year one of the world's largest lithium finds. They estimate that we will be able to provide 25% of the worlds lithium. So bigger picture I am talking in ways we can lock down greater independence. As covid was a wake up call that we are to reliant on other nations for production and distribution of raw materials and finished goods.

Also the great orange one hired the prosecutor who gave a child rapist a plea deal for 18 months.
