Taste is stored in the calories. They sprinkle calories on your meals at restaurants.......bet you didn't know that?

I'd make some nasty sarcastic comment about ignorant foreigners, but as I'm a foreigner too, that would be simply ignorant, and I prefer not to be nasty. However, I suspect that only the Western Canadians are going to get it anyway.

Why is it that Arizona is the ONLY state in the U.S. That isn't with the whole "time change"? :p

Do you mean within the "contiguous/continental U.S?" Because then yeah, you're absolutely right. Hawaii is another state that doesn't observe it, (but they're outside of the contiguous U.S.)

Arizona has been very...strange about DST. From what I remember reading, part of the state moved an hour ahead of MST, while another part moved ahead of PST. Now, most of the state doesn't observe it (?) at all.

We have some territories (not "states," specifically) that also don't bother with it, like Guam and Puerto Rico.

The continuation of DST altogether though just seems silly and redundant. :p

I agree with it being redundant, I used to live in AZ... And I hated it. I just wanted to know WHY parts do observe and some don't. Just seems silly to me. :)

actually DST can be quite vital in northern places with low temperatures and shorter days, for example, i.e. where i grew up in MT and of course, places like AK where they have even less daylight. a lot of things are impacted by that hour, for example the safety of the roads when they have an extra hour to warm up frozen surfaces. i read some data awhile back, and in northern states, that hour of daylight earlier saves lives by preventing accidents, according to DOT reports, etc.

the reason why AZ doesn't use DST is because they are not really interested in creating more "daylight in their day"--reasonably so. in fact, the effort to do so would be of greater expense and hazard to folks. in their case, less daylight equals lower temps during times when commuting and transitions occur.

p.s. i'm not terribly sure why parts of AZ observe it, and some don't. i can't help but think maybe even bureaucracy doesn't know what it wants???
